He just couldn't understand that cutting grass is a one way journey
I told them, and told them and told them, it will look awful if we cut it now but they really wanted it done on Friday.
You have a weekly service, we always come on thursdays, pick up after your damn dog, its hard to get shit out of the tread on my work boots.
Just because it doesn't require a University degree doesn't mean you don't have to use your brain, avoid the metal pipes on people's lawns you moron. And you don't, you don't get paid.
To have clients, you need to maintain relationships, so you need to be sickeningly nice at all times. If your client wants to talk about his days as an insurance investigator, you smile and nod.
The cost is the cost lady, you don't get to decide what we deserve, especially after you already agreed to the price.
This would happen all the time, people just think we can fix everything and think that an extra 5 dollars meant we would do anything.
Because younger people typically handle their own yards, a huge part of the market is elderly people, which means you get calls like this, they forget they paid you, forget they even hired you. It's interesting to say the least.
Hey man, I told you you were wasting thousands of dollars, you said, and I quote "I think it'll be fine" this isn't my fault.
It wasn't all bad...
Rich clients are the best, they just want their property to look great all the time, and if it costs them 2000+ dollars a month, so be it.
EhCanadianCarGuy
Some people need to do the work once to understand that they have no idea what they are doing and that the experts do.

I work for a SOD company that supplies grass to contractors and home owners. I have a few stories about you contractors and landscapers. . .
keurah
I once got tripped 20 bucks while doing ass busting labor
SassySousa
Had a customer ask for pink flowers with lavender undertones. Like, on the same flower. Lady, that's not how flowers work.
Javertyourattention
I really want to know the outcome of some of these
trilith
as a landscaper in the biggest closed gate retirement center in the world, hot springs villlage.. all the older client ones made me sigh.
TheLastNalbinder
Your work seems sodding tough

Contracts guy, DO YOU HAVE THEM?
whileiappreciateyourenthusiasmidislikethispost
As a landscaper/mowing crew leader going on 4 years, all of these are incredibly accurate.

WHAT'S WRONG WITH BEING AN INSURANCE INVESTIGATOR
k2viking
Smiling and nodding is the code to life if intending to socialize amongst others. No matter what you want or don't want from 'em. +1, liked
angelwkw3
You don't let the new guy use the 1500 dollar mower. You make him do the trimming/blowing. That's just stupid on your part.
eriktheredbeard
Oh man some of those stories are way too relatable... Rich clients really are the best tho
IamTheBaron
Always have stuff in writing.
GMANN1
TIL people can be extremely pedantic when it comes to lawns
Frazzledragon
These kinda stories make me wonder if everything should be a written contract so you can show the client "That's what you signed"
PandiesINTENSIFIES
Please tell me that you got that bitch to cough up the rest of your money! $25?
wnatch
I did, but it took a lot of "patient explanation"
RedPhanthom
Landscaper son here for a family of landscapers and my uncle's as well. This is pretty much the bulk yo stuff thay happens. A whole day job.
RedPhanthom
And they don't want to pay.
Slyshadowfox
You should make contracts in case their stupid decisions backfire on them so you are not liable.
wnatch
For scheduled clients, big jobs, etc, I absolutely do, don't worry.
stevetehpirate
If you talked to a lawyer they might tell you that text messages or emails are sufficient to constitute a contract in most situations...
BattloidKouji
pretty sure making your employees pay for mistakes like that is illegal. I know it is where i work.
wnatch
I didn't make him pay for it, but I did fire him 20 minutes into his first day.
BattloidKouji
after re-reading it, that's what i figured.
mybrothersmario
You can put it into a contract that if they cause damage their wages go towards repairs.
LitchLitch
those are usually enforceable, you have to demonstrate intentional misconduct or something like drunkenness
RegularSizedRudy
Every profession on the planet requires you to smile through your teeth at some asshole who's talking too much.
UpsetFace
As a gyno...
F0rger
Unless you're the asshole.
devcoffee
This is why I so desperately cling to my current job, from home. I put up with the most annoying, dumbest shit but it's not face to face!
BugJuiceComesFromWhoYouAre
I'm a nanny. I wouldn't call the kids assholes, but they talk a lot and I do a lot of "uh huh...how nice...wow! Oh my goodness!" -ing
Protean2648
