Lake Tarpon is just a little west of Tampa, FL. It’s the largest lake in the area at 2,500 acres.

Home to many species of wildlife, the lake is renowned for its largemouth bass fishing. Didn’t fish on this trip, but the bass are huge!

The lake has an issue. Pollution. The waters are low in dissolved oxygen due to algae growth promoted by fertilizers.

The parks around the lake provide elevated trails and viewing areas.

Some people prefer the lake, even with the gulf 1/2 mile away. Less salt, no sharks?

Moss grows everywhere.

Everywhere.

What did i say?

For being in the middle of suburbia, the park is always filled with wildlife.

Let’s play find the gator.

The lake itself is surrounded by watershed (swamps).

Trails circle the lake and watershed.

My favorite spot, we park near here to sit and take it all in after we walk the trails.

The gator that I was trying to photo is submerged in the background, but there are likely more in that area. Not sure which you meant.
