But seriously this gets annoying after hearing it 10-15 times a day from co-workers and others. Not to mention it also lowers my self esteem even though I know it doesn't look that bad. I keep myself well groomed and clean. I cannot help but laugh when someone says something because it's gotten to that level of annoyance.

Pic for you all who cannot accept just a proper venting: https://imgur.com/lDyfO5C

Also if you care..send me your recommendations for products. And also good books. Thanks everyone, I greatly appreciate the support.

The other women in your office are just jealous, and the men are too shy to risk complimenting a female at work for her appearance.

8 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

It actually does tlook like untrimmed pubes. Go to a pro barber

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Maybe they are talking about getting a trim. My husband is growing his out and it's a serious Jew fro because he won't get it trimmed.

8 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

Is this my boyfriend? Cuz if it is it is not well groomed! If this isn't Blake, then carry on.

8 years ago | Likes 15 Dislikes 1

@heimfaced its important to groom the hair/beard & getting the tips cut every at least every 2-3 months. Also, show us a picture :)

8 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

I did this and rebelled against requests to cut my hair, eventually i decided to cut it. it was halfway down my back and I looked stupid.

8 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

because you aren't taking care of it and you look like a homeless person. Girls with long hair go through lots of product. you should too.

8 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

As a look I don't like it one bit but you do you.

8 years ago | Likes 16 Dislikes 1

Put on some sunglasses and take a picture. Let's see what the fuss is all about.

Send pics. A patchy beard isn’t worth it. My attempt at a mustache looks like s catfish.

Girlfriend told me to do what I want. As far as I'm concerned, everyone else can suck it.

8 years ago | Likes 26 Dislikes 0

Pretty much. I started growing mine out about 7 yrs ago now. It had less white in it back then. Wife digs it, I dig it. And so it remains.

As far as she’s concerned, no one else should suck it.

Also, go see a barber every 2-3 weeks to keep your cheek and neck line in check.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I don't think you should shave it but i think it could be styled better to suit your face and head shape. Just my opinion.

8 years ago | Likes 24 Dislikes 1

The hair just needs a proper cut and style any good barber could advise you on. Longer hair in general requires much more maintenace.

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Like for the beard i would taper the sides to better contour your face so it's not so wide and trim the mustache as it's looking overgrown.

8 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

Are you sure you look clean? Maybe you think you do, when in reality you're greasy and it's more fur than hair.

8 years ago | Likes 49 Dislikes 1

Yep. This. As a teenager I was a sweaty lil ball of oils. I showered and washed my hair every day and still by 15:00 i looked like i was 1/2

8 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 1

Working in a chip shop actually AS the grease mop. There is a difference between being clean and looking clean. 2/2

Go to a barber and get yourself cleaned up and lined out. You’ll be glad you did it.

8 years ago | Likes 41 Dislikes 2

Last time I let someone else touch my beard I was left with that weird 5o'clock shadow scruff. Never again.

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 3

Was it a barber or a stylist who only occasionally did men's hair?

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Yeah always go to a barber shop that specializes in straight razor shaves. They know how to really clean you up good.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Straight razor shaves are the absolute opposite of what I want. I am about the stage of braiding my beard and lamenting it's too short.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

They don’t shave everything just the stray hairs on the cheek & down the neck but you keep volume like this

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Usually when the overwhelming majority tell you that you should get rid of it, it's because it looks bad. Pics or it didn't happen.

8 years ago | Likes 72 Dislikes 6

Right!

8 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

And they are kinda right. The beard needs to be trimmed and shaped. Maybe some product? And his hair with the beard screams ‘hobo’.

8 years ago | Likes 45 Dislikes 1

But other than that totally adorable.

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 2

Yeah bro trim the beard, it’s looking a bit too long

8 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

IMO hair is fine, just need to neat up the sides of the beard. But I'm a chick so ive never had a beard

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Female as well. My job just makes me used to guys with trimmed up everything and punishment for not doing so >.< (sheriffs office)

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

If it's guys tell them to piss off, if it's women ask them how they would feel if you told them they should change their looks.

8 years ago | Likes 97 Dislikes 9

This is naive. Women conform to standards constantly. Im sure OP is asking for opinions OR his bad attitude compels brutal honesty.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Or just judge them back regardess of gender.

8 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 0

Tell both to fuck off, and ask whether they would like to be superficially judged, regardless of answer tell em to fuck off again

8 years ago | Likes 32 Dislikes 2

“I see you’re working on a moustache too!” Especially to the women (and the men clearly trying but failing), that’ll shut them up.

8 years ago | Likes 15 Dislikes 0

Return the favor.

8 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Ask the women if they have put weight on. If you are Burning the bridge might as well go nuclear

8 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

"And you're a cunt, Janet. At least I can shave."

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Trim the wild beard down, have hair trimmed ans use some hair and beard wax, and you'll be spot on.

8 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 0

Thanks for info. Recommendation on products?

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

As a fellow bearded man I suggest Professor Fuzzyworth’s Beard shampoo bar. Leaves my skin clean but not dry. http://a.co/4Or8jZh

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

My beard is thick and coarse AND curls so I don’t let it get much more than a couple inches. /a/KkV6N Selfie as proof

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

How bad does it look?

8 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 0

Not that bad, my opinion.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 2

Hey man you don't look bad but you def need to go get styled and trimmed. Beard looks unkempt

8 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

Let imgur decide

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

That's just it, it's your opinion. Maybe your view of it has been skewed by unintentional bias.

8 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 1

So that makes it okay for people to give unwanted opinions on how he should look?

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

Did I bloody well say it made it okay? No, I did not. Read it again. I was giving a potential reason WHY somebody might.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

May not be that you look bad, just that youre so good looking without it that they miss your face. Thats usually why i tell people to shave.

8 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 1

Do you think people want to hear or care about your opinion?

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

No one wanted to hear your and yet here you are.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

Seems at least one person is okay with what I said. No one gives a shit if you think they should shave. Grow up.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

I can say I like short/trimmed look. Just trying a different look. But...come on people.

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Your beard should go down not out. Get cream or oil and a brush and train it down, brush it down constantly. Stiff boars hair, small 1/?

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Scissors to get rid of hairs that are too long once all hairs are down. Preen yourself constantly brush it and you’ll see the difference 2/

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Are you in that awkward phase, are you growing a neck beard and greasy hair?

8 years ago | Likes 179 Dislikes 7

Yep, just because you're growing it out, doesn't mean you can't keep it tidy and shaped.

8 years ago | Likes 84 Dislikes 1

It's his decision how he wants to grow his beard/hair if other people don't like it why do they feel the need to tell him he looks bad?

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

Im sure OP keeps asking them. Or mabey his attitude is bad so it compels others to be honest with him

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

May help to spend a bit of time playing with shape. As a beard owner, I refuse to believe that there isn't one to fit you.

8 years ago | Likes 24 Dislikes 1

Yeah. It the pic it looks kind of poofy towards the back of the jaw and there's some fly-away hairs

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

The only place I can't grow facial hair well is my moustache everywhere else is thick and full any tips?

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Neck beard = pure laziness

8 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

No no no. My beard is mostly thick all around. Under my mouth and to the sides about quarter inch is also thin. Otherwise good.

8 years ago | Likes 54 Dislikes 6

We need a pic my dude

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I need a picture. Plz send pix.

8 years ago | Likes 18 Dislikes 0

Definitely needs trimming and shaping. Your hair could use a little style too.

8 years ago | Likes 13 Dislikes 0

I saw the pic and feels it needs to be trimmed a bit for the beard but the hair seems fine to me.

8 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

I saw the pic & it seems to be in the awkward Amish stage. Gotta pull through to sexy hipster stage. Buy beard oil & comb & do some research

8 years ago | Likes 27 Dislikes 0

You will look great in no time!

8 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

You need to use beard oil and comb it regularly. Your pic is quire scraggly and uneven. Beard it a lot of maintenance work.

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

All it needs is grooming. like, make all the hairs the same length, give it shape. otherwise looks good. source: girl if it helps

8 years ago | Likes 36 Dislikes 0

Yes! And trim the edges. Clean lines make it look much neater.

8 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Exactly. A little shaping and trimming makes a world of difference.

8 years ago | Likes 13 Dislikes 0

just tell them all to lose some weight, watch them either cringe, cry or go full rage on

8 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 1

I think OP keeps asking for opinions and didnt like what he was hearing. So he went online for support. No need to go neckbeard on honesty

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I read it more that others were offering their opinion without actually being asked for it

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

1. Use confitioner/Beard Oil. Beards need that shit too. 2. Trim the scragglies. This keeps it clean and full looking. Kills the split ends.

8 years ago | Likes 627 Dislikes 1

Was going to say the same thing. My husband's beard behaves like this - oil and a brush make it *so* much more attractive.

8 years ago | Likes 18 Dislikes 0

This is necessary! Get a good brush, boars bristle if possible, Zeus makes a good kit. Get an electric shaver and keep it clean.

8 years ago | Likes 21 Dislikes 0

Blow dry after washing! Best bit of advice I have so far in the growing business!!!!!

8 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Yeah, the scraggly bits give your beard an unkempt look. You can grow it out and still keep it neat.

8 years ago | Likes 41 Dislikes 0

3. Talk to a stylist/barber. They know things. 4. Do what you want. It's your face. Like how you be.

8 years ago | Likes 313 Dislikes 0

Depends on the work place. Some area's do have guidelines on facial hair.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Listen to this man, @OP

8 years ago | Likes 41 Dislikes 0

@OP all of the above

8 years ago | Likes 17 Dislikes 0

Yes, listen to ThatThog... A good looking beard is well trimmed one.

8 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 0

Unpopular opinion here. I tried using beard oil for awhile and hated it. I just prefer to let the natural oils do their work 1/2

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Same. I get compliments and rarely use any products.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I had to try several before i found one that didn't make mine feel super greasy. Different hair means different products needed. you do you

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

2/2 the beard oil gave my beard a weird texture and it got on my hands even after working it in. I don't use oil or shampoo it.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Need to switch oil. The one I use doesn't change my beard texture at all. Plus, make sure you only use a couple drops.

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Nah, I tried multiple oils; just wasn't a fan of it. It changed the shape of my beard; I have more volume without it.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Also, it depends on the texture of your beard, but my beard is already pretty soft without it. Makes more sense if you have a course beard

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Then yes, I agree with you. Though you still may want to use conditioner on it during a shower. More for your skin than your beard.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I would also recommend growing it out, and clean shaving multiple times to grow it in fuller. Since your mustache doesn't connect. You have

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 2

to grow it out to a 1 Inch in length and then clean shave all of it, include areas where there isn't much growth.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Shaving having an effect on thickness is an old myth, unfortunately. But it's worth trying to grow out the hairs between mustache and beard.

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

It worked for me so i thought id pass on the info

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Clean shaving appears to grow thicker hairs because it cuts the hairs at an angle, so the stubble appears thicker. I wish it worked for real

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Cuz if did actually work, I could work towards having more than just this patchy ass scruff everywhere but my chin.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I'm a fan of Grave Before Shave balms for the old beardy. Just... beware the pine scented ones

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

What's wrong with pine? : p

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I'm guessing it might get tingly if it touches your skin, or cause the sneezes if you breathe in a large about of the fragrance.

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Guarantee if you trim DOWN a beard to something nice, people will complement it. Grow it out, and people will tell you to shave.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

People would tell my bf to shave once he started growing his out, and I'm glad he didn't listen because it looks good on him. You do you

8 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

People said the same thing to me until i started getting it trimmed. Got to a barber, not a fancy one.

8 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

I would cut the hair ( a more-on-the-top cut) and maybe go to a hipster barber to trim the beard and grow it nicely from that.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

None of those ladies would want you to tell them how to do their makeup. That’s very rude of them.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Hair looks good, but beard is too messy. I tend to keep mine thick, but short. And no neckbeard.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

If you're not trying to impress them, do nothing.

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Keep growing. You’re in that stage where it’s not extremely long, but it’s not short, either. They’ll probably shut up after it gets longer

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

In another month. Get a nice trim and clean the lines. Then show them a before hair picture. Everyone will think it’s better now.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Based on the pic you posted, I would recommend trimming it up the back of your neck to keep it even until the top grows out far enough.
