They won't do that for several reasons
1. They gotta be sneaky.
Getting the higher ups out without notifying the public is definitely on the to-do list. I'm fairly stunned that the shelter is actually on Wiki.

and 3. That Airport is HUGE. They could close down a runway and it probably wouldn't hit the news until after as a "ah ha" moment. But if they closed the whole thing down that's the biggest red flag of all red flags.
At that point millions would KNOW something has gone terribly "mass destruction" wrong.
