Though the votes are still being counted, it is clear that fewer people in the US came out to vote - even for Trump.

This data is from 18:00 Eastern on November 6th. However, the numbers show that Trump may not even get to the same popular vote he received in 2020.

Imagine having to live with whatever happens next because you thought “Voting? Nah, it‘s gonna be fine“

One theory I have is that during covid, it was much easier in a lot of places to get a mail in ballot, and people had shit else to do, so far more people voted by mail early.

There were also less ballot drop box fires, less bomb threats, and no intimidation at the polls.

I thought the turn out would be much more substantial....anyway, now we find out what it means. I think the red states depend more on federal funding and support than we do- so they will find out first as the cuts go into effect.

Trump showed last time he’s not above withholding support from what he sees as Dem areas. Cutting funding to certain states only is not impossible.

Everyone thought Harris was a sure thing?

I thought this would happen the minute Biden stepped aside. I felt then like I did today. The Democratic Party needs to learn this country will not elect a woman president, let alone one that is not white. It’s fucked up but true. We need to put a real leader on the stage that will bring jobs to the common man. We need more than a concept of a plan that’s all. Instead we focus on protecting gay rights, which while important and something most people support, it’s not something that impacts most

Guess so even tho this country does not like women or poc’s given *gestures broadly at our history* I’m honestly terrified for my sisters. I’m thankful we’re in a blue state but we’re deep in a red county. Trumpturds everywhere…

I am with you. I am concerned for the girlfriends/fiance of my sons. I am in a swing state, so who knows what can happen.

It's not just the 'generic white male' to point the finger at. Trust me, there are plenty of minorities that distrust black people and especially women. I talked to many relatives who were Filipino, doctors, nurses, lawyers — they don't trust her just based on what she is Her character has nothing to do with it. A lot of minorities have patriarchal family structures and are not as open minded as often assumed. This election brought Trump record numbers of black, hispanic, asian, indian men.

Hard to get excited for these candidates.

Yea your right, a convicted felon and suspected rapeist or a black and Indian woman that sounds funny, complete fucking toss up.

Oops, you abandoned your fascist argument. Quick trigger on the racist card though. Keep playing that.

If you think that there are people in the United States, that would vote against a person just because of the color of their skin you are naïve and I hope you can live your best life. I think that number is significant, like if they were gone from a state, it would vote a different way significant.

Occam razor. I never went with the argument that Trump was a fascist I went with the argument that he was unfit for the highest office in any nation, that’s coming from a guy that voted for him the first time around. 30 years ago any hint of a scandal was enough to discount you the opportunity to play on a national stage in politics now it seems for the Republican presidential platform I t’s a requirement. I’m surrounded by Trump supporters that 100% would not vote for Trump if he was black.

Might want to check the exit polling, my dude. And the original comment that you responded to was trying the fascist argument. Glad we're caught up.

You started with it’s hard to get behind these candidates, I said he’s a felon and an alleged rapeist and she is black and Indian.
FTR:

often Fascism : a populist political philosophy, movement, or regime (such as that of the Fascisti) that exalts nation and often race above the individual, that is associated with a centralized autocratic government headed by a dictatorial leader, and that is characterized by severe economic and social regimentation and by forcible suppression of opposition
