Lovely Fungi & Birbs

Definitely do not advise eating this. -Identified by #DangerJJ as Amanita Muscaria, a hallucinogenic variety.

I’m so glad no one has seen me hunkering down inside rotten logs yet.

A little family.

Old tree throw in’ some shade and shrooms.

A colony. I don’t know what you call a grouping like this, but I feel like colony fits.

I don’t know if it’s just a form of mildew, but purple-pink mushrooms look so cool!

I don’t know any of the terms for any of the mushroom species I’ve found, but if you know, I would love to give credit and add in that info for everyone to share!

Hidden underneath a log, perfectly lit by daylight through a crack.

He is tiny, but he has a big heart. Almost reminds me of a little hot cross bun.

Looking a bit snug in there; they probably pay a ridiculously high rent for the privilege.

I think this would make a pretty cutting board motif, but so far that’s just me.

Rounded the corner and whooped with excitement seeing this massive conglomeration. Caught them just in time, too— they were a shrivelled black lump the next time I came by.

Faerie umbrella mushroom! Feather mushroom? I don’t know what this actually is, but if I was in charge of naming it, that’s what it would be. ETA: Most likely to be called a Hare’sfoot Inkcap, which suits it! -Info courtesy of Cryptic, a user on another site.

Not a mushroom, but a tiny berry that caught my eye. Definitely did not lick.

Bumblebee landing!

A local resident that allowed me to get close enough with little more than a cellphone.

Their babies, just learning how to hunt.

Fledgling, still all fuzzy!

This guy was on the side of the road with what I believe was a concussion. I left him at a local vet’s on my way to work and he recovered and flew off some hours later. :)

#1 Amanita Muscaria, it’s not poisonous. However, it is used in shamanistic rituals and is a death/rebirth type of experience. The main chemicals are muscimol, ibotenic acid, and muscarine. The unprocessed chemicals are expelled in urine which is ingested to prolong the experience and rituals which can last upwards of 3 days. (Yes, drinking your own piss. You’re welcome Imgur.)

Thank you! Still don’t recommend anyone eat it, though. 😂
