Whatever gets a healthy foam going.

The appropriate amount of toothpaste is directly proportional to the appropriate amount of toothbrush.

Just general advice for anyone reading: If you're brushing too hard, you can try using only 2-3 fingers on the brush while brushing; any more and you can put too much pressure on your teeth. Also consider changing out the brush as soon as the bristles are no longer straight. (I like to run my old brushes through the dishwasher and use them to clean small things so I'm not wasting plastic)

My dentist told me toothbrushes should be changed every 3 months to avoid it developing bacteria, even if you clean it well.

2 days ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Left is plenty for manual, right is more appropriate for an electric toothbrush in my experience.

2 days ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

I've always used the same for both.

The economy apparently isn’t the only thing with recession.

2 days ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Are they chewing on the bristles?? My God.

2 days ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I bite the toothbrush heads whenever I brush my teeth. I pass the toothbrush between hands by biting on it's head, letting go with one hand, then picking up with the other.

Several times per cleaning.

My brush heads look way worse after a while.

Also wooden heads do not work for this they split and leak bristles.

Big Toothpaste wants you to think the one on the right is correct and for both of you to buy a new toothbrush

As a professional Tooth brush analyst I can only conclude that this person brushes with a level of hate typically reserved for rush hour traffic

Brushing your teeth like you hate them

They should buy an electric that also shows when you're using too much pressure while brushing.

2 days ago | Likes 25 Dislikes 2

Used an electric for about a year. Never had so much plaque in my life. Had to go to cleaning every 3 months, while I usually had to go every 12 to 15 months. So, doc said to go back to an abrasive, standard toothbrush... Guess what? Problem's gone. Well, not completely gone, still need pro cleaning yearly, but not every 3 months...

My issue when swapping to electric brush was trying to treat it like an electric brush (changing the way I brushed, letting it do the work). Once I noticed how much of a difference there was after having used a manual brush again on a trip, I started using the electric basically the same as a manual, with it just putting in extra work. Now I seem to be better off than ever.

2 days ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Interesting. I've used electric for many years now and it works fine. I even went 5 years without going to the dentist and he literally told me it only looked like it had been 1 year. Maybe your specific brush sucked, or maybe you eat too much sugar, or your teeth are trash genetically. Something is wrong lol,.

If the West ever faces another Great Depression, some of these people will up and die. "MANUAL tooth care?! AH!!"

2 days ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 3

We are already in a depression. People are going into debt for groceries

2 days ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

You have no sense of history if you think this is a depression. Debt for groceries? How about no calories available that you didn't grow, slaughter or scavenge? I'm paying bills selling shit that people are THROWING OUT. My friend, my adopted parents were children in the Great Depression, they would have told you all about it.

They can't afford new toothbrushes, so they fight over how much toothpaste the other uses.

Don't lie..... Those brushes have been used to clean shoes for the past 10 years haven't they?

2 days ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I don't know how, but GF's brush looks about the same after a week of use. I've used one for almost a year (I know, supposed to change them every so often), and the most that had changed in looks was a loss of color on the bristles.

Pushing down too hard?

1 day ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

For sure it is related to too much pressure, I just jokingly meant things along the lines of I'm not sure how she can use that much pressure and not have ground her teeth away/find it comfortable/not destroy her gums and the like. I don't get how she can manage it.

Looks like the weird chicken. You know the one. (ot: AI FUCKS UP THE AUTOCORRECT WHICH SHOULD BE IT'S FUCKING STRENGHT GODDAMMIT)

I immediately sent this to my GF. Her brushes always look like this. I even put new ones in her Xmas stocking, drawer, and travel trailer. All the places. They still look like this immediately. However, no cavities, fresh breath and fun to make out with, so can't complain. Still ... Some sort of vendetta is afoot.

Someone once pointed out something that stuck with me: dental health has a lot to do with genetics. She pointed out how she brushes, flosses, mouthwashes, etc. and still has shitty teeth ... just like everyone in her family. Good point. Genetics can really fuck you over.

And the British enter the chat...

2 days ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Dude you gotta tell her that she's fucking up her gums. Shes going to have major problems doing this. Also Noone should ever buy a toothbrush above "soft." Thats most of what I remember from dental assistant school 20 years ago.

So they shouldn’t be firmer, or they shouldn’t be flimsier? Inquiring minds want to know.

2 days ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

You should change your brush every 3 months

2 days ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

They look a couple weeks old to me. Like how gentle are y'all being they don't show wear on the bristles?

2 days ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Used one for almost a year at one point with only a loss of color on the bristles being the change in its look. My teeth feel the same as after a cleaning at the dentist (who tell me they have no complaints from what they can see). You don't need to grind the back plate of the brush into your teeth for it to work.
(GF's brush does look like that after about a week+, though).
