I'd stand by them and defend them with my life

If I expect them to protect me, why the fuck wouldn't I work to protect them?

FUCK THE POLICE!!! Because everyone needs a good lay.

You can respect the police AND respect that police are also required to follow the same rule of law that they are paid to represent.

9 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

That's why they always get away with it.

9 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 2

... Shootouts aren't what people are complaining about. Videos of police beating on unarmed teens is the problem.

9 years ago | Likes 29 Dislikes 8

There are a lot of problems. Beatings, shootings, abuse of authority, civil forfeiture, interrogation methods...the list goes on.

Thought this was going to be a music joke.

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

If you love them, than why don't you marry them?

9 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 2

Because I'm WAY too socially anxious to talk to a female officer and ask her out.

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 3

are there bad cops? sure. are most cops good? absolutely. but are there also areas/departments which have systematic problems? absolutely!

9 years ago | Likes 80 Dislikes 4

And are these systematic problems ever adressed in a fair and jucial way? I wish.

9 years ago | Likes 25 Dislikes 3

Generalizations for everything!

9 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

But I'm certainly glad to know that if when people get beaten by the police, you won't believe them until the planets align!

9 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 3

My problem now, as a black dude is that I don't trust them to protect ME. But I don't do weird shit, but still. I'd be tense with them.

9 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 1

I also feel the same toward the guy shooting back. Innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

9 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 2

Wow what an unpopular opinion

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

That's fine, but the issue is police killing citizens for no reason other than panic or fear or anger.

9 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

I don't think that anyone is saying that police getting shot by madmen is okay.

9 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 1

Cops have never been able to protect me or my property, but they are damn efficient at catching me roll a stop sign on an empty road.

9 years ago | Likes 21 Dislikes 5

Excellent at dishing out fines at the finest hours

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

This is an easily abused sentiment, and time and time again has shown to be wanting.

You're terrible at memes.

72% of Americans have some-great deal of cofnidence in the police. Source below.

9 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 4

Cops pulled a gun on my dad for him telling them to fuck off after a search, which I always thought was a reasonable response.

9 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 2

Cops are there to protect the collective. On the individual level, they are neither your friend nor your enemy.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Giving the benefit of the doubt because of their uniform is why it's tough to actually punish police wrongdoings.

9 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 1

WALK THE STREETS FOR MONEY

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Except, police are under no obligation to protect you.

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

But in around 40 or so states, you're legally required to assist them in apprehending a criminal or stopping a crime if they order it. USA!

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

We love them when they do their real job: protecting us. When they also hunt us, beat us, regulate us, and kill us, we got a problem.

9 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

if people would understands that cops have to wonder if they're going to die at every traffic stop, people might stop doing surprising crap

9 years ago | Likes 41 Dislikes 16

Very true. Did a ride along with an officer for the first time this weekend-- an eye opener everyone should experience.

9 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

While I agree, I think there needs to be a better connection with the police and the communities they serve.

9 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 1

While not denying corruption, I think the majority of police dept do want this - but it works both ways. People *need* to be receptive

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Oh definitely! I would say that both police officers and the community need to come together to help weed out corruption on both sides.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

This is such a broad statement-- our community has an excellent relationship with our police!

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

Look, I get what you're saying but we all have to wonder if we're going to die in any given encounter. That doesn't excuse shooting [1]

traffic violation is such a threat that they need to be put down at the slightest startling movement. [4]

9 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 3

I would argue with you, but instead suggest you watch the TV show cops to see how often someone beats a cop to void a trivial ticket

9 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 4

If they can't handle the stress, they don't belong on the job. We can't give people a pass for murder because they were nervous.

9 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 5

Don't think this is an unpopular opinion. It's the actions of a few idiots that make the millions question everyone else's persepective

9 years ago | Likes 23 Dislikes 6

they caused (was a couple hundred $) but their stupidity has resulted in a court decision where the two cops owe >20G. 2/2

and it's not just idiots on duty, but even off duty. my fam has been in a legal fight w/ two cops who refused to pay a bill from damage 1/2

I don't get those "abolish the cops" people. What do they honestly expect would happen 2 hours after they accomplish that?

9 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 4

They are probably the same people that want to remove all guns as well.

9 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 6

Yes, those 2 principle are exactly the same, as demonstrated by the anarchy in all the countries in which citizens can't carry guns.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

The purge

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

That is what would happen, but is that they expect or want? Maybe it is. I am not sure how screaming "thats racist" will defend them.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I am just as confused as you are on the "abolish the police" movement. I have no doubt that they would regret their decision immediately tho

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I think they are just idiots behind a cause that they don't understand. Remember, water would be illegal if some "activists" had their way

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Hopefully it is just a matter of chronic shortsightedness. Worse would be that their leaders have some kind of agenda.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

That's an interesting thought and a good point.
