Rather stupid, but well-meaning and super-strong super-hero, Bananaman gets his strength from eating bananas. Before he eats a banana, Bananaman is a young boy called Eric who is keen to keep his alter-ego a secret. His best friend is a crow who brings bananas to Eric/Bananaman when they are needed for extra strength. Bananaman is always ready to fight the baddies.
Bananaman TV Series 1983–1986, 40 episodes at about 5 mins each.
Trivia: Bananaman premiered 2 weeks before He-Man.

Bananaman was firstly a fictional character appearing in British comic books. Bananaman is a parody of traditional superheroes (Shazam! in particular), being portrayed as a schoolboy who is transformed into a muscled, caped figure when he eats a banana. The character originally appeared in Nutty as the back page strip in Issue 1, dated 16 February 1980, drawn by John Geering.
Superman much?
Scooby-Doo much?
Trivia: Bill Oddie (the voice of chief O'Reilly, the crow, many of the villains, and some additional characters) has unflatteringly said that he thought the show was a mess.
James Bond in Goldfinger much?
Lucky Luke much?
Walking the plank is primarily associated with mutiny, as the new boss does away with the old boss, without actively doing any killing. It probably wasn’t as prevalent as pop culture makes us believe. The oldest record is from 1769 (long after the Golden Age of Piracy), where a mutineer describes this practice.
This sequence in Bananaman was possibly inspired by ‘The Pirate Movie’ (1982) (featuring Christopher Atkins), as the then most recent movie featuring walking the plank.

Banananman was brilliant. A little slice of that excellent British 80s satire of everything in every medium, Spitting Image? I would entirely subscribe if they started making Bananaman comics again
