This is the neighbors basement/second floor level of his home. The top level is where that porch up top is more along the road.
The river is supposed to be behind the farthest tree line in this photo. With all the rain and storms in CA, also means a lot of snow. Now this rain is melting it all off. And a couple years ago the mountains right by my moms house were all on fire. She had to evacuate. I lived up there at the time. I live in another town about 40 min away now. With all that fire that burned everything, there’s nothing to absorb all the water. So it floods. My aunt lives not far from her, along one of the bridges in town. I remember being little and seeing it flood so bad at that bridge that the water came over it, and broke it a couple times
Another pic of her neighbors lower level. She’s been helping him move things to the top. It’s a small little town right before you start going into the Sequoia National Forest. The river flooding happens but it hasn’t been this bad or scary in years. I think my mom and her house will be ok. She’s all prepped just in case the worst happens and the river actually comes up and across the road to her. She says she can see the river from right out side her front door, which is not normal. When the fires happened it was like looking at the Apocalypse. Everything was on fire around us. And now this. It’s just insane
Sorry about super pixels. It’s a video from my mom showing the water line of another area up the street. She said the water line came up about 3 feet in just a couple of hours. It’s so scary to me. I just hope they will all be ok.

Take care. Reminds me of the flood I experienced in my city. Feels like humanity will perish that day.

This is so scary. Hope your mom is ok and I hope her neighbor gets a good insurance payout for damages.

Idk how common flood insurance is in CA, since I don't think weather like that is too common. I could be wrong though. Here (NC) you ½

have to have a separate flood policy, homeowners alone doesn't cover it. Hopefully I'm wrong

It's not standard/mandatory, but many mortages require it, and most people who live next to rivers tend to get it.

I believe when my mom bought her house there, she had to get both fire and flood insurance.
