A PSA from your friendly banker

Let me start by saying that working for a bank is a ton of fun. I work full-time for a large bank here in Canada. Being able to help people achieve their goals, rescue them from crazy fees and put them back on track is what I live for. As much as banks want to make money, a lot of us are here to help you save it too. Generally speaking, most clients are wonderful to deal with and very pleasant.
Then you get ungrateful sods who decide to verbally abuse you- when you've just offered to give them the NSF back and suggested they may want to reach out to their gym about their own nsf.

This guy goes from happy to immediate shit-heel faster than Trump's lawyers going after Stormy Daniels. "You can't expect me to ask a national company who charges thousands in nsf fees to their customers a year to waive it for me!"
All I can do is say "but sir, that's what you're doing with us- a nationwide bank that charges nsf fees to their clients- and we've just offered to waive them. We are here to help and that includes making the suggestion to reaching out to other merchants too."
And that set him off.

Suffice to say- don't verbally abuse your banker or financial institution because we easily can and will close your accounts and have nothing to do with you in a very smooth "GTFO" motion.

Thinking about putting together a "work stories of a banker" and also a "work stories of a comic shopkeep" if anyone is interested? :)

Yes, but are Canadians capable of a "GTFO" motion?

I was in a bank when a guy came in and started yelling at the teller who was trying to help. Pissed me off. I called him on it, 1/2

in a polite but firm manner. He Looked at me, stared at the teller for a second, then left just as mad as he arrived. 2/2
