election

funny

American right wing has been crippling the US educational & public school systems for decades and now we see why - millions of semi-ignorant voters, many of them graduates of screwed up charter evangelical schools, are happy to vote however their "god sent" leader tells them to.

$2B in secrets and dead CIA agents. Wish that was remembered more.

I don't know how to convince people he isn't the way. It's like we are living in different realities.

A lot of Republicans are not voting for Trump, they are voting AGAINST Democrats. They're voting from hate of the other, not for love of their guy.

Bullshit, Trump can't smile.

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

What the world is beginning to learn is that he has created the modern fascist template for use in any liberal democracy. He just updated the Hilter/ Mussolini methods. A freedom of speech & press with widespread access to the internet, are all the tools needed for a cult of personality to infect millions of slack-jawed idiots and people already on the fringe of society.

2 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Also, and I cant emphasize this enough, fuck the producers of “The Apprentice” who are almost directly to blame for creating the myth that validated Trump to millions. They could have stepped forward when he was running in 2016, and shown what he was really like, released tapes, etc., but they didn’t want to lose any of their precious money.

Vote, vote, vote.

Trump is not just very weird, but weak as well.

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

They don't care. He's on their team. They want their team to win. They're not going to admit that the guy on their team is a moron or a liar no matter how obvious he makes it. They do. Not. Care.

It's an actual CULT and that's not hyperbole.

He would consistently poll lower than that if they called cell phones at all. Polls are outdated as they are currently done as land lines are mostly used by rural folks who lean right. They did an online poll recently & 63% said they are not voting for Trump. He only has consistent support from the same percentage that thinks chocolate milk comes from brown cows. Vote blue anyway, tho!

Everything about this is weird

Trump being a clown? This is sensational news, I must tell everyone! Fuck tags!

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 3

Trump wears his tie so long to distract people from how big his belly is. Each time a caricature artist focuses on the long tie more than the big belly, it shows how Trump has succeeded in this one goal.

I get why caricature artists draw it that way, but I'd love it if they focused on a larger belly, and maybe make the tie too short to go over the belly.

2 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 1

who the fuck cares how big his belly is, he's a nightmare of a human being who wants to be a king

Trump's message is simple—All of your problems, they're not you're fault. It's "their" fault, and I'm going to make "them" suffer. He's not the first to seduce massive numbers of people with this message, and it always works. Maybe someday the general public will be smart enough that they won't fall for this kind of thing, but we're clearly not there yet.

2 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Hitler wrote about that in Mein Kampf.

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

The "general public" have been receiving less and less quality education since Reagan started his war against intellectualism in 1980. He had been taking cues from Nixon's people who told him when he was governor of CA that the student demonstrations are the result of too much education for the masses, and that college was too easily attainable so he slammed the brakes on affordable higher education in CA (junior college used to be FREE to residents, for example). Then he became president. :(

It's not weird. It's frightening.

Calling it that strokes its ego though

Terrifying.

Because Fox news and other right wing media have created a cult. Only they can be trusted. Anything outside are fake and liars that cannot be trusted or believed. All while the echo chamber spins it further and further right.

This is the reason.

This. For anyone who has ever watched a documentary about cult XYZ and wondered how people could fall into one, look around. It's happening right in front of us but on a scale we haven't seen since Germany in the 20's to 1945.

There is a documentary called "The Brainwashing of My Dad" about this. Here is the trailer- https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=813V_GId5N8

He's become a religious figure in Americhristianity. The republican party is exploiting poorly educated people's tendency toward magical thinking. He'll start appearing to people in visions if he hasn't already.

2 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

In the history of stupid fucking cults, this is far & away the fucking stupidest.

2 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

There are plenty of MAGAs who believe that he was sent by God and that he is, at the very least, a demi-god

From an outsiders perspective, it's truly bizarre that he's even a possible candidate. His nepotism and corruption when in office, and refusal to accept his loss in 2020 alone, should exclude him. He just seems to have no redeeming qualities at all. He's not even a good public speaker.

2 years ago | Likes 232 Dislikes 1

He's an unattractive disaster who spews hate, and some Christians love him. I might never forgive the cultists.

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

When you indoctrinate children from infancy to believe without evidence that a god exists and that questioning thai fact or any other teachings of your families religion is not allowed or tolerated, you set them up for a life of unshakable devotion and faith in something is far more important than facts or the effects your beliefs and actions have on others. To be conditioned to value fervor and unquestioned loyalty over reality is baked in. And tyrants know this and use religion to control.

2 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

You nailed it. I grew up Baptist, and I was taught that "doubting" could send you to hell. I'm glad I could think clearly enough to leave that faith.

1 year ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

From an insider's perspective, we are just as baffled, irritated and scared that just under half the voting population seems to want this orange chucklefuck back in office.

2 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 0

yeah how wa sit? 75 million vs 74 million and 100 million did not vote at all. That 100 million should start paying attention.

2 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Those 100 million are just as complicit as the MAGA idiots. If you can stop a disaster from happening but you do nothing. What does that make you? (Disclaimer: while I know of voter suppression in the USA, this can imho in no way explain the 100 million non-voters, so I will stick by my assessment that they are, en large, complicit).

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Yeah. You are part of the result, wanted it or not if you don't vote. This is why I have never seen any diference with US or Soviet Union/Russia.

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Merely confirms my belief that most voters are dumb as bricks.

2 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

He is a good performer, in that his audience are fully engaged and motivated by him. The content is almost irrelevant to them. They enjoy the spectacle.

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

The reason his party hasn't picked anyone else is by now they're afraid of their own base. They have fed their ignorance and hate for decades because it was politically opportune to do so, and then someone came along who has a much better grip on these violent idiots, and who's perfectly willing to let them burn down the enitre party if he doesn't get what he wants.

2 years ago | Likes 25 Dislikes 0

They really tried to push desantis to replace trump. He was just so unlikeable that they had to pull back

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

They say what we are witnessing is the "death throes" of the conservative movement. I wish that were true but I just am not surprised that it seems to go on and on. People in power want to remain in power.

2 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

COVID also didn’t help. Ignoring what epidemiologists say BECAUSE they are intellectuals is not the way your group pulls through a pandemic, especially when they skew older.

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I'm in the US, and I genuinely can't understand why he's even in the running. I spit on Trump signs, cars, and flags.

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

This is the mildest criticism of him ever my man. The guy is literally the biggest piece of shit to have ever existed, an absolute abomination and disgrace to humanity.

His utter evil self-serving mendacity is only matched by his utter incompetence, stupidity and weirdness/derangement.

If he were somewhat intelligent we’d all be far more screwed than we already are

2 years ago | Likes 60 Dislikes 1

if he could read above a 5th grade level, we'd have all been so totally and completely fucked.

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Personally, I'd put Trump under the likes of McConnell and Stephen Miller on the "biggest pieces of shit ever" list, since they're wildly more evil and using him as a convenient idiot/rubber stamp to get their way. But we're splitting hairs at that point - they're all still utter garbage creatures who will only make the world a better place by not being in it.

2 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

the craziest part is that his supporters actually believe he's a good person and is here as a savior. After the first assassination attempt, my mom tried to convince me that he would be paying for the education of the children of the guy who died that day. Because he's just such a generous and caring man. I just don't understand.

2 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Hitler was elected too

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Some of his supporters are of that delusional mindset.

Most other MAGAts definitely don’t believe he’s a good person, in fact most of them know that they themselves are terrible people. But they love him precisely because he represents the worst of mankind that was able to ascend to the presidency, enabling them to unleash their awful selves upon this world with hopes they’ll share a similar fate as their cult leader.

Thanks! It's weird to think that so many Americans (and citizens of other countries) see TFG as a candidate. I just don't get it.

1 year ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I swear that most of the polling demographic seems to be older retired conservatives who have time to take a 15 minute polling call.

2 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

Notable is that these folks are also the ones who take 15 minutes to vote....

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I used to work for a company that did these polls. Our clients used to have certain expectations of how their calls would look after we were done.

2 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Might have to do with nobody answering unknown numbers very much. I had a poll call in like 2018 or 19. Only reason I didn’t do it was because they said it would take like 30 minutes, and I only had 12

2 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I hope you are correct. The polling numbers are making me lose what little hope in humanity I had. But the last phone poll I ever remember answering was more than 15 years ago when my grandma still had a land line.

2 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

They use landlines for polling, generally only old people have those any more.

2 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

I've gotten polling calls on my cell.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q8NydsXl32s Adam Ruins ... Cognitive Dissonance!

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

2 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

The real reasons in most cases: Conservatives hate minorities and the party that encompasses minorities.

2 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Not necessarily. Cognitive dissonance doesn't mean being wrong. At all. It means having mutually contradictory beliefs, and the mental discomfort that comes from trying to reconcile them.

2 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Yep, humans are very good at rationalizing themselves. In a study with separated brain halves, they gave subjects some input that they then had to draw. When giving an input in a way that would reach the half *not* responsible for the motion of drawing, the subjects were asked why they drew, and they just came up with BS answers that they genuinely believed, while in reality, they did something they should not have been able to explain. They rationalized their own actions to a fault.
