The one picture is called a weldalet where you cut the pipe then weld the attachment to it, so you can screw things into it

Thread-o-let, usually. a Weld-o-let has no threads and is for welding onto as well. Can also get Elbow-lets.

I'd suggest start with stick, it's the best one to get a feel for speed and metal deposit, not the easiest to learn but just best for start
