Yeah. I can’t quite put my finger on what is missing. THE person lost IT somewhere in the CROWD.

You may appreciate 'Spaced': https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0187664 and 'Garth Marenghi's Darkplace': https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0397150

Garth Marenghi's Dark place is wildly underrated.

I have to get home - if my pussy's not attended to by 8 o'clock I'll be stroking it for the rest of the evening.

2 years ago | Likes 25 Dislikes 0

You're lucky to have me at all, Captain Peacock. I had to thaw me pussy out before I came.

2 years ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 0

Mrs. Slocombe: Captain Peacock, I do not respond to any man's finger.

2 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

No love for As Time Goes By? It was a"gentle" Britcom starring Judi Dench and Geoffrey Palmer that kinda had a romance between the two characters where they met during WW2 and separated only to meet again in the 90s.

2 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

One of the best shows IMO!!

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

IT Crowd is a must watch. Black Books is very good also.

2 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

Green Wing!!! It's like the English version of Scrubs :)

2 years ago | Likes 20 Dislikes 0

I didn't care for it. It had its moments, but I found it a little forced and uncomfortable to watch. Very unlikeable characters.

Mr Pedantic here, the Dads Army poster is for the recent film and not of the original tv series.

2 years ago | Likes 67 Dislikes 1

don't tell him, Pike!

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

No problem. I’m passing time on a bumpy and very crowded trainride and missed that detail. Sorry !

There’s a film?

2 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

Two films. One from 1971 and one with a new case from 2016. That's the poster that OP used.

2 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

There's a film with the original cast, which is great https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0066963 and there's a remake.... which isn't.

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I found the BBC Radio Audio series a while back and binged it on a long trip and it holds up just as well as the tv series

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Radio version was based on the TV shows (as was the Steptoe & Son radio version)

2 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

A few more you might like; Father Ted, As Time Goes By, Coupling, The Fast Show (known in the states as Brilliant), My Family & People Like Us- the Brits have excellent shows- I’d watch British tv over American any day!

2 years ago | Likes 26 Dislikes 0

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Man I wish I could watch black books for the first time again, lucky!

2 years ago | Likes 13 Dislikes 0

That would pair perfectly with that gaziliont glass of corner shop swill at 3 in the afternoon.

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I love Doc Martin. Watched a lot of it while I was getting chemo.

2 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

Are you alright?

2 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I've been in complete remission for over a year. Cancer's probably not coming back, as per my oncologist, so I'm doing fine. I'll be doing even better four or so years from now.

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

That’s really good to hear.

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

My recos - Open All Hours, Porridge, Dinnerladies, Chelmsford 123, Drop the Dead Donkey (that's very British & u may not get the references)

2 years ago | Likes 13 Dislikes 0

When I was a kid I wanted to be in prison because Porridge made it look great

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Drop the Dead Donkey was brilliant, also try Coupling

2 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

The first two starred Ronnie Barker, one of the finest comic actors Britain ever produced.

2 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Chelmsford 123! I loved that show. I think that's where I first saw Rory McGrath (among others).

2 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Thx ! I’ll have a go.

2 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

DTDD - strangely forgotten and I've never seen a re-run. Anybody know why ? Too topical at the time ?

2 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I definitely saw some re-runs on (I think) Dave in the past few years. It's probably not attractive for re-runs because it's so topical.

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Recently revived as a stage show featuring many of the original cast https://www.theguardian.com/stage/2023/may/30/newsroom-satire-drop-the-dead-donkey-to-return-in-stage-revival

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

It was very topical, recorded days before transmission. Still available https://www.channel4.com/programmes/drop-the-dead-donkey

2 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Do you think that it's very topicality has meant that programmers have not re-shown it because people 'won't get the context' ?

2 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

According to Wiki, reruns on Comedy Central Extra, often had a short review of the major news events which happened during the week of each episode's filming. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Drop_the_Dead_Donkey#Repeats

2 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

May I suggest you give this one a try. (sound on)

2 years ago | Likes 16 Dislikes 2

That had a bunch of eps pulled for being egregious blackface

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

They certainly pushed the boundaries! Watching a few make you cringe now.

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

only in small doses, the skits are very repetitive

2 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 2

Nope, don't understand this one either 😞I was in a room with a few people watching this and I was the only one thinking WTF? Maybe it's an on the spectrum thing.

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

If you get the chance, try Bluestone 42, and Plebs.

2 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

Thx ! I’m on it.

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

If you have trouble finding Bluestone 42 I may have accidentally left it lying around somewhere it might be found.

2 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

In which post of yours ?

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I liked Plebs series 1 and 2 but have never seen later episodes. How do they compare?

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Series 3 was good, started 4 and stopped a few eps in, didn’t like the new guy

2 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Good to know thanks

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Good choices, check out The Fall and Rise and Reginald Perrin and Good Neighbors.

2 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

Will do. Thx!

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

It was Good Neighbors in the US, but originally The Good Life (you can find it online free).

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

The Fall and Rise OF Reginal Perrin. Sorry!
