8 hours ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

Threatening me with a good time is always an interesting choice.

6 hours ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Maybe it wouldnt want to hurt me once it got to know me

8 hours ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

It would probably want to hurt me even more....

Gotta love that refractive index!

Was expecting the glass to turn out embossed with dickbutt. I’m actually a little disappointed it’s not. And now I’m disappointed that I’m disappointed.

Laundry day is a very dangerous day.

Tell that metal to get in line, Invent Animate is currently hurting my feelings so...

Caesium salami!!!

… how do you discover something when air hates it?

/gallery/cWd0smD/comment/2423024951 found the answer!

5 hours ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Well there it is. Thanks!

5 hours ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

But why does it want to hurt me? I didn't do anything.

39 minutes ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

That's good shit. How can I get some?

8 hours ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

It's actually surprisingly affordable in small amounts: https://www.luciteria.com/elements-for-sale/cesium-metal-999

6 hours ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

In Gregtech (a Minecraft mod) you can extract Caesium (and other things) from processing Redstone. But it's a powder and you can handle it just like iron; kinda disappointing.
It has uses somewhere in the mod but I don't remember what

Holy shit. I hadn't seen that one yet!

6 hours ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

It's quickly become one of my favorites. I can't hear the original Firework without thinking about it now.

5 hours ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

How was it even able to be handled and put into that glass vial in the first place if it explodes when air touches it?

7 hours ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 2

It was probably in a more stable compound that wouldn’t explode, put into a vacuum or argon chamber, refined/purified there, and assembled into the ampoule.

Does make you wonder what’s happen if it was thrown at a pool and cracked open. Where’s that Mythbusters episode?!

6 hours ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

It's highly reactive, which means you'll only encounter it in nature after it's already reacted with other stuff to form a nonreactive mineral, such as pollucite. Then, in a chamber filled with inert gas instead of regular air, you treat the mineral with acids, bases, or reducing agents that dissolve some elements without dissolving certain other elements, and eventually you can extract the purified metal.

Makes my dumbass wonder all the possibilities of what might happen with all the potential combinations of elements and potential states they might be in. It’s amazing to me what chemists and scientists have figured out.

6 hours ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

Fun fact: In the simulation episode in Rick and Morty the fake recipe for concentrated dark matter that Rick gives is Cesium, Plutonic Quarks, and Bottled Water. The Plutonic Quarks part is sciencey nonsense, but the Cesium and Water part is the trap that sets off the explosion that destroys their ship.

Highly reactive with air, mainly moisture, think dropping potassium in water but a million times better!

5 hours ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

Fun fact: The current definition of the length of a second is based on a specific Caesium 133 transition.

Ok nerd.

4 hours ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 8

Go lick a republican.

24 minutes ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I did not know that. I thought a second was defined by how long it takes light to travel a specific distance or something like that

18 minutes ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Computer Science, or CS for short.

Sound is off to not disturb anybody. And the label on the box is visible for less of a sec in a 40 sec video. Also I'm not very attentive.
