A little bit of background, I am a CAD student at college. I am living the bunk bed, ramen noodle, campus life. CAD stands for Computer Aided Drafting. Basically, I draw things in 3d.

It all started in a skype call with a friend at 3 am "dude, you know what would be really nice? A bed mounted pc, that way i can play videogames while i am laying in bed." The next morning, I sat down at my over cluttered desk, drew up this space saving design, and posted to the pcmr subreddit https://redd.it/3s5xkp

my plan consisted of about 24 feet of 2x4 studs, five C-clamps, a monitor mounting plate, a male to female usb cable, a male to female vga cable, a 3 prong extension cord, six hinges, and a draw latch, velcro, para chord, and a scrapped store shelf made of some form of plywood.

My roommate, Mr. Chips, is a traditional woodworker. He helped in the planning and production of the final product. As a result, all the woodworking was done by hand. and there was a lot of complex joinery included.

Here is the final product. The keyboard tray, and the monitor are adjustable for comfort and the entire thing swings to the side so that i can sleep at night. The pc itself is between the dresser and the wall down at the bottom right of the picture and everything is connected with the aforementioned cables that I bought.

and here is the view while laying in bed. I had to hold the camera behind my head to get a tall enough viewing angle to see the whole monitor.

The biggest difficulty with this project was the fact that I am not allowed to damage the walls, the ceiling, or the bed frame, so the entire thing is being held on with gravity, and reinforced with the aforementioned C clamps. In the end, it costed about 50 dollars in materials and extra cables, and was 13-16 hours of work between my roommate and I.

I'm sure that impresses all the ladies when they walk into your room.

Ought to put a shim between the C clamp and the bed. You can tighten it further without marring the bed frame. Other than that nice work OP!
