Re the Israeli PM 1983:
You got the facts somewhat confused. He became PM about 20 years later. At that point he was serving as Defense Minister and was held responsible for the https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sabra_and_Shatila_massacre?wprov=sfla1 conducted primarily by Lebanese Christian forces (who were allied-ish) with Israel at the time.
Despite the inquiry holding him responsible, the Israeli public apparently was willing to overlook that to elect him PM
Some might say, "Quelle surprise".

Please do more of such posts! Did not know about Saket, there is an interesting (FNL-made) reportage about the aftermath https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZHmmi7KCrX8 Weird to see the unbalance, jets against huts and today no less senseless than it was back then.
FrancsTireur
I think i will, I enjoyed it, I considered doing one for today but its mostly a continuation of events from yesterday.
Probably the most notable event today in history is the Japanese attack on the Russian pacific fleet, an early morning raid by torpedo boats which takes the Russians completely by surprise and begins the Russo-Japanese war.

Wish we would give Ukraine some torpedo boats or a submarine..

#2 - "his wishes of union between the two kingdoms" ... more likely it was parliament's refusal to fund his excessive lifestyle.
FrancsTireur
Potentially, though that comes up alot, because that was part of the rift that followed with his son too.
It comes up so mich that frankly its almost a given with every king and queen.
Hell its even been raised multiple times in my lifetime about Lizzy and now Charles.

1942 - interNed, I hope.
FrancsTireur
This is gonna be one of those parts of english I really struggle with cause wouldnt interned be you know "I interned with Microsoft"?
So what does interred mean?
PaperinoVB
Buried, AFAIK. One of the meanings of "interned" instead, as per Cambridge dictionary, is "to put someone in prison for political or military reasons, especially during a war. Many foreigners were interned for the duration of the war."
FrancsTireur
Appreciate that :) most people just mock me for the few blindspots I have with the language.
PaperinoVB
I know, I know. English isn't my first language too :-(
