The more I learn about LLMs, how they work, and their limitations, the less I'm afraid of a "true intelligence" rising up like in Terminator. It's more likely our doom comes from somebody putting AI in charge of protecting nukes or something and an argument with an Alexa accidentally fires them off.

no, this is how you get machine echo chambers. LLMs can't think or feel, they only respond based on prompting, they have no inner lives, no wants or needs, all they do is regurgitate median approximations of expected text or imagery. They can not come alive, no amount of data sets to train on will make them alive.
Stop thinking this'll lead to anything. Go learn what the technology is. Stop panicking. This whole technology is a nothing burger created by billionaires to replace labor. Poorly.

It was created to replace what people who have never truly performed labor think labor is.
Their inability to understand the goal at which they have aimed is further compounded by their inability to understand the processes they are using to achieve their goal.
The question is not if it will fail, but how much are they going to destroy in their efforts to pretend they have not already failed..

From their perspective, it isnt failing at all, they want a few hundred thousand people on the planet. They want themselves as elite, they see middle class as carbon producing slaves and lower class as slaves. Their stated goal has always been to get rid of the middle class and wipe the lower class to a manageable lower population for manual labor only. Unfortunately the far left licks their boots so hard we have seen forced injections, censorship of truth, and giving in to the climate agenda

LLMs are the perfect way to get rid of the thinking capacity of the middle class and force them all into a world where we wont even have wired infrastructure any more, just digital circus that is controlled by those at the top for those who are left. If they step out of line, it gets turned off for a bit as punishment
