I'd really like to hear some American's perspective on this... For the record I am ashamed as an Australian by the conditions in our offshore detainment facilities and don't agree with sending the refugees to the USA, but am confused by this reaction that Australia needs to be "put in it's place"...

No OP, this refers to maps and how most Americans are unable to find Australia on it, so it has to be "put in its place"

Ignore him. He's an idiot.

As one of the majority of people who didn't vote for him. I'm sorry. This entire spectacle is disgraceful.

It's nonsense and should be ignored. Take what the media says and dial it down about 1000% and you're closer to American Public's position

As an American, I have no fucking clue what this is about.

You're a little upside down in my opinion.

As neither.... I feel like Australia is a staunch ally of the USA and I don't understand why any Americans would want to antagonize them.

Americans love Australia. You're like a friendlier, drunker, healthier America.

As an American, many Americans are idiots.

JP is goofing. He's basically joking that Trump defends these goof-ups by acting like 'real Americans' demanded he do whatever he did.

I am a local in Michigan and that is nonsense. People are unaware of the situation or do not understand why it is a thing. Or embarrassed.

Or they have been convinced that Australia has actually done some wrong doing to the US but that is something I do not understand.

It's supposed to be a joke

I call bullshit. The average American's view on Australia? http://25.media.tumblr.com/tumblr_m40yl0L8A01qbk9s5o2_500.jpg

Untrue! Everytime I read the Bar-b part of barbeque I think of Australia.

I don't know about that either. As an American, I'm ashamed at the lack of diplomacy. It's embarrassing to have your leader behave like 1/2

this. I can't imagine what the world thinks of us now, and worry about what it'll be like doing business overseas for the next 8 years. 2/2

I think Australians get this... our last PM was a diplomatic nightmare. Almost as bad as Trump

Australia is one of Americas most loyal allies and the way trump conducted himself on that phone call is shameful. As an American Im sorry

Hey now. Sorry is our thing (your northern neighbour)... but you can borrow it for a while. You may be needing again.

We will definitely be needing it again.
