Sooo... Dinner was a complete fail today ? , the Internet lied to me and told me 40 min at 400 in the air fryer for the turkey legs... Which was way way too long, I turned the noodles mushy the only thing that was good was the canned baked beans... And now I am having a glass of wine ?, while trying not to cry about dry a$$ turkey legs and mushy noodles

As a side note Peri menopause sucks big time, hormones are all over the place and I can't sleep since the summer. I am either too hot or too cold. ? , I won't even talk about the other fun symptoms ( like itchy body parts , falling out hair , being angry all the time and all the other fun stuff )

I hated today ....

I microwaved Stouffers spaghetti. You're way ahead of me. Menopause passes. Like a kidney stone. But it does pass. Can your local MD help out? I had some creme that I rubbed on my neck for hot flashes.

Tomorrow is new chance to ruin another dinner! I believe in you.

Hey, it's not great. But, tomorrow, you can try again, and now you know that people on the internet mostly don't know how to cook for shit. That knowledge is hard won and valuable. And you'll never do that to a turkey leg again at least. Hope tomorrow goes better for you.

Sipping tempranillo and commiserating friend. I am quite a good cook who has been cooking since I was a child and I still screw up sometimes. It happens, the grape will fix that a bit. -I discovered this easy as heck to make noodle brand lately and they are perfect texture. Big recommend.

It can certainly suck to not have food turn out the way you want, but that’s why you learn and try again later. Cooking is literally alchemy. You’re taking a bunch of things and mixing them together, throwing them in extreme hot or cold, and creating something entirely new. It’s trial and error. So long as you learn from it and don’t set the house on fire, you’re not failing. You’re growing.

If you have one of the multi-cookers you can throw poultry in, give it a few minutes under pressure to cook it, then season and just crisp the skin in the air fryer. Juicier meat than trying to cook the meat all the way through and not burn or dry out the surface. The fat/juice/broth left after pre-cooking makes for great risotto.

A lot going on and peri doesn't help matters, but when this happens to me, I take a moment to think... that out there, someone has a lot less than just this. And for me, that kind of makes the dinner taste a little better

But why were you making turkey, noodles and beans to begin with?

Because that is what I wanted ?

For chicken legs I do 3 of them at 15 mins at 400 degrees. then turn over and another 5. So 20 minutes total. They come out perfect. Just had BBQ sauce right after pullout out and it thickens to the chicken. I wouldn't try turkey, they are way to lean. Maybe 30 minutes, check the temp, and keep at 5 minutes more.

Yeah, I find 20 minutes max for chicken. I've gone longer because I don't want uncooked poultry but a minute more than 20 minutes and it's dried out..not as juicy.

yep, when I do chicken legs this way I will also cut the meat and skin away from the bottom of the leg. makes it easier to eat and when the meat contracts it basically lollipops itself which is kind of cool.
