Vorpal swords are +5, not +3. Filthy casual...

Nice Jabberwocky reference in the title.

'Twas brillig, and the slithy toves Did gyre and gimble in the wabe: All mimsy were the borogoves, And the mome raths outgrabe'

Oh, frabjous day!! Callooh, callay!

7 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

But a vorpal Sword cannot be enhanced. A + anything vorpal is a cheated item. shame :<

When fi sees the master sword

7 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I mean, it's a vorpal sword. Ignores resistance and has a 5% chance to just instantly decapitate anything that's decapitateable.

The jaws that bite, the claws that catch!

Kill a rich man. Then.. .kill another rich man! Hack and slash our way to riches!

7 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Upvote due to the actually correct term of “Envious” being used rather then “Jealousy.” Enjoy the useless internet point.

7 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

I didn't create this but will add this useless internet point to my collection anyway.

7 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Is the vorpal sword a reference to the Jabberwocky or a reference to dnd which references the Jabberwocky.

7 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 1

A reference to D&D, which references Jabberwocky (no "the" in the title)

7 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

v *can....can you fuck the swoard?*

7 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Yes, but on a natural 20 it will cut off your "head".

7 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

And that's where you ask the DM if there's a ritual to transfer the ego to the +3 Vorpal sword. That's a plot hook if I've ever heard one.

7 years ago | Likes 46 Dislikes 1

This is like asking your significant other to get breast enhancement. Unlikely to go down well.

7 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Who wants their thicc broadsword to be some measly rapier?

7 years ago | Likes 13 Dislikes 0

Vorpal requires that it be slashing. The specific mechanic is if you roll well enough, it chops off heads.

7 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

and a good way to get stabbed by your own sword

7 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

A correct use of jealous and envious!

7 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Liracor + Minsc = best combination

:3 good enough for now

7 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Thanks to you I wasted air. Take my upvote

7 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

That is exquisite, you will have my spork

7 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

There's a lot of shit that can't be instagibbed by Vorpal Swords but a properly sated intelligent weapon will kill just about anything.

7 years ago | Likes 199 Dislikes 3

Oh, not Jabberwocky vorpal. One, two, through and through, the vorpal blade went snicker-snack.

7 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

Pretty much a guarenteed decapitation.

7 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

So will vorpal swords, even if you can't instagib it. +3 and ignoring resistances is nothing to scoff at.

7 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

But hey, I’m 5e you just get to do an extra 6d6 damage to the thing. Pretty rad regardless. Also it’s a +3 sword at base.

7 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

5e it's a decap on a 20 with an extra 6d8 if the decap wouldn't kill it. Or if it's a legendary creature or too big for it to work

7 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Including your party and yourself

7 years ago | Likes 74 Dislikes 1

DM dropped me a vorpal warhammer once. I chose not to question it.

7 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

"You hit the orc incredibly fucking hard... his head flies off." - See? It works.

7 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Well, some creatures don't die when decapitated. That gimmick doesn't work as well when the head's disintegrated.

7 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

But... it’s a vorpal sword!

7 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Legendary tier weapon that decapitates on a natural 20. This instantly kills a lot of things as to be expected.

7 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

And sentient weapons tend to be more trouble than they are worth. Unless you have a particularly nice DM.

7 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

yeah, vorpal isn't very useful unless you're straight up cheating the rolls

7 years ago | Likes 19 Dislikes 1

That depends. If you have a solid way of generating advantage and make *lots* of attack rolls it'll hit the 20 a lot.

7 years ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 1

The goal is to get Vorpal on a weapon with an expanded crit range and keen property. Some weapons can hit 16-20 for their crit range.

7 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 3

Vorpal only works on a Nat 20. Not just any crit. 5th changed crits to only workon a 20, but there are a couple ways to crit on 19

7 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 0

My overpowered broken Pathfinder Elven Bladesinger wielding a rapier thinks that is lame!

7 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Ah yeah, I keep forgetting that as I'm still preferential to the pathfinder system b/c of how expansive it is.

7 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 2

Assassination rogue with a vorpal weapon multiclass into fighter for the action surges and extra attacks

7 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

Acthually... it wouldn’t work. It says when you roll a 20, not when you crit. So even a fighter that crits on a 19 wouldn’t work either.

7 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

That’s true but the fighter multi attack and action surge gives the extra dice rolls coupled with assassinations advantage on enemies (1)

7 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

But it's also +3.

7 years ago | Likes 35 Dislikes 0

Yeah but a sentient sword is probably at minimum +2 if not +3 or higher.

7 years ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 0

Can't go higher than +3 in 5e DnD, at least not without adjusting the ruleset a bit.

7 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 1

Iirc it's mentioned in the creating artifacts section of the DMD they can go up to +4 although tbh +X is about as boring an enchant possible

7 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Right, theres so many more interesting affixes you can get.

7 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Rules? You mean guidelines.

7 years ago | Likes 14 Dislikes 2

Exactly, but all of the manuals are still called "Rulesets" regardless of which game system you are using. I Have DM'd in over 15+ systems.

7 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 1

Nobody said anything about 5E.

7 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

The comic above is pretty plainly based on 5th ed. Sentient weapons pre 5e technically required at least +3 enhance, 5e weps could be +2.
