Continuing my Spooky Season horror film watch for every day of October. I'm going to try to see things I've missed over the years but will probably see a few classics and personal favorites along the way.
Last night’s film was The Thing (1982) available on Peacock, Amazon Prime, Philo, streaming rentals, and physical media.
The Thing (1982) basic plot description: A research team at a remote Antarctic research station discovers an alien buried in the snow for over 100,000 years has emerged and is attempting to assimilate them and eventually replace all life on earth.
I went with another personal favorite that’s widely considered a horror classic. It combines creepy creatures with a growing tension and paranoia over who may be an alien copy, and switches between the creature feature and suspense thriller throughout the film without missing a beat.
For my meaningless rating, I give it a hot wire to the blood.

So good. I remember literally jumping out of my seat in fear at the defibrillator scene.

About 10 years ago, I had your idea to write a story about an alien buried in antarctica like it was an original thought cuz the had nightmares about it my whole life. I told my dad about where I was gonna write and he reminded me that he let me watch this movie when I was 3 or 4. Now I get my reoccurring nightmares

Nothing but the hits. Your October seems like a great time.

Drew Struzan’s artwork for the poster is nothing short of iconic. Apparently he turned it around in 24 hrs.

Hard to believe this movie was a flop at the box office but became such a cult classic.

The Thing is a Christmas movie.

The remake is very good too. The OG has a place in my heart but I think justice was done for a remake.

I guess the remake remake.

There are no remakes. The original is wildly different to this one, and the 2011 version is a prequel.
