So... This happened.

I've got sort of a weird little happening that happened in the last few days, I only found out today, though. Now, you may think that this is just the inside of a keyboard and you'd actually be right in assuming so! But that's not all...

Here is the other half of it. This is the half with all the keys under it, the other half was just the base. You may see that there is something in there...

Ants.

It turns out, there was an entire colony of ants developing inside my keyboard. I only figured out today, not sure how long it's been like this.

I noticed ants sort of walking around on my desk a few days ago but didn't really make much of it. A day or so later I saw them walking around and inside my keyboard. Again, only a few at a time. I passed it off as a bit of something being in between the keys and again, didn't make anything of it. However, a few days later they were still there so I started getting annoyed and decided to clean the keyboard.

I took off a few of the keys and noticed that there weren't actually any ants between the keys, which I found strange. I then noticed them coming out the bottom from all the moving. My dad and I flipped it over and started unscrewing the bottom and well... This is the result.

After opening the keyboard, they started going haywire because their colony had obviously been exposed and started scattering all over the place. You can't see it too well, but here they are!

We decided to just leave the keyboard outside overnight and let them evacuate on their own, hopefully that's enough.

I put the keyboard higher up, just in case it rained or something.

Will check back on it tomorrow.

Here is my temporary replacement keyboard for the night, I really hope they evacuate over night. Will update tomorrow if necessary.
