Conservatives and elected Republicans are suggesting that red states move to kick President Biden off their ballots in retaliation for the Colorado Supreme Court ruling Donald Trump is an insurrectionist and therefore disqualified from running in that state.
On Laura Ingraham’s program, Lt. Governor Dan Patrick of Texas—the man who once suggested at the height of the Covid pandemic that the nation reject social distancing and quarantine protocols even at the expense of the elderly’s safety—suggested that the Lonestar State might just move to keep the President off the ballot because of perceived inaction at the southern border.
On Sean Hannity’s program, guest host (and former Trump advisor) Kellyanne Conway asked her guest, Republican Governor Kristi Noem, whether she “would be able to bar Biden from the ballot in your state of South Dakota” by unfreezing assets for humanitarian aid and the surge of illegal southern border crossings.
In an earlier program, an agitated Harris Faulkner turned to the camera and warned other blue states which may move to remove Trump from the ballot: “It could be your guy too!”

This is funny to me when you look at who brought the case in CO in the first place. Everything else about it is obviously not funny at all unless you find dystopian fascist hellscapes funny

For no reason. Just revenge. Revenge is their only "policy"

I mean it's the backbone of their platform.

I suggested this the other day and got downvoted, like republicans aren't widely known as mask-off fascists and whiny grievance babies.

I said they would suggest to do this soon too. I got up voted , Imgur is fickle.

Yeah, I called it from a mile away. He was removed without actually being convicted of anything, and while I definitely agree with the sentiment, now we have a constitutional crisis on our hands any way the cookie crumbles. Thing is, I feel like we would have had one regardless, this just sped that up and made it about the ballot first before it was about imprisoned candidate/(God forbid) president elect. Now the SCOTUS will have to dictate, did he meet the constitutional standard for

Insurrection against the US, and does the POTUS count as an official, which was why the lower Colorado court decided to allow him on the ballot. And IF he can be disqualified by the 14th for something he hasn't been convicted for, then where do we draw the line? Can Texas legislature claim that his border policies constitute sabotage and treason? Can citizens sue on those grounds, as what happened in Colorado, and have a court DQ Biden? Scary times to live here.

Following current precedent set by Trump himself, the President is immune from state charges and only Congress can convict a sitting President. But Repubs are toddlers with a gun so norms don’t matter. It’s time Dems stopped playing by norms that aren’t going to get to followed by the other side - social norms are peace treaties, not laws.

The Colorado Court did confirm that what he did was, in fact, engaging or giving comfort to an insurrection. The wording of 14th amendment does not say- can not be "convicted" of an insurrection. It's pretty cut and dry IMO.
