Thank You, Texas House Democrats

Jul 12, 2021 11:23 PM

About a month ago Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton admitted that Texas would have been a battleground state in the 2020 election and Trump would have likely lost Texas if he had not been successful in stopping Harris County (Houston) from mailing out applications for mail in ballots.

The Texas GOP has successfully engaged in voter suppression in Texas for the past forty years.

Texas is blue and our GOP knows it. That’s why their last ploy to remain in power is to stop us from voting any way they can.

But our state house democrats can only do so much. We need the Biden administration to lend a hand.

May not work. In the past GOP said they wouldn't be in session, so Dems did things to help cmnty. GoP had "emergency" session and voted.

When Texas turns blue the GQP is finished. I’m proud of you all. This is how you fight back against those republican scumbags.

I wouldn't say finished, but it would be a strong blow against them. They do still have Florida after all.

I seem to remember that when the GQP refused to vote on something the call was to have them removed for not doing their job...

How is this cheating?

How were the ballots stopped from being mailed out?

It was the applications for ballots that he stopped. He sued Harris county and won.

Now they’ll change the rules (and in so doing, break current rules) to not require a quorum. Just watch.

You can’t put anything past our GOP, but we have to do what we have to do.

That would be a real stupid move, because without a quorum rule, the majority of republicans would have to sleep in the statehouse.

Otherwise a group of dems could sneak in and vote for stuff in the middle of the night.

Dems are a bunch of wusses who value consensus and rules. The gop counts on them being nice it and that's why the gop regrettably win.

Wouldn’t it require a constitutional change too?

Not unless the rules for a quorum are in the Texas constitution. Most stuff is just rules, not constitutional requirements.

Oh I see it’s like the filibuster. Just made up.
