6th cake day. A year in review

This year Biscuit the nutbar passed on to that forever sunny spot. It's been 2.5mths and I miss her terribly.

I have a birthday coming up on Sun. 6 years ago when I joined Imgur I had come out to my family as a meth addict. I used once more on the 8th but the 4th was when I knew I'd hit rock bottom and had to start going up again.
Imgur became such an awesome distraction. I remember when my comment that i was 54 days clean got 500 points. Never underestimate the value of anonymous validation!

Oh boy do I have a tax refund for you! My sister is fostering 3 kittens. They're only 6wks old and wee scruff here finds osmosis to be the easiest way to eat!

But that's ok if they bathe in pet food because the dog will lick them clean. This is a post-lick wet look.

This is Star. Maybe 3yr old lab rescue my sister got last year. She has decided she is the kittens' new Mum!

So adorable. Being the goodest girl!

This is my friend Chris. He took his own life in March. He was a touchstone in my recovery and I miss him. He would always ask "how's your heart?" Such a special soul.
I fell into a dark place for a few mths afterwards. It was a photo I saw on here called Beautiful Suicide which helped me picture him at peace, not sprawled on rocks at the bottom of a cliff.
His death has taught me that if I don't make peace with the deep, dark, dirty stuff within me, it will destroy me.

Because I can't end on a bummer. This pic was at a friend's house. Don't know artist. Do know I'm in a much better place today.
I'm the only one who can make me happy but I can't do it alone so thanks for being here.
