It's tea time and currently 35 degrees Celsius where I am but when a pregnant lady has a craving there's not much that will stop me. Creamy bacon carbonara is always awesome for me. *edit* Ok so I'm getting a lot of backlash about this not being a "true" carbonara recipe. Although it's not traditional it is still an adaptation of a traditional recipe that my mother cooked for me since I was a child. The recipe is from the 80's I'm guessing but it was what I was taught. There are so many alternatives to this but it can still be a carbonara. We all cook different and we're taught differently.

Recipe?

Aw damn. That’s the stuff. I want to eat it, I want it in my socks and in my underpants. All the noodles.

I would eat that

I just love food with the word carb in it. Like the shame is on the plate and there is no getting around it

I don't know if green peas make it a traditional carbonara, but I always think they add nice color and allows you to say you ate ur veggies

I use that excuse for a lot of things. Just add peas or a small about of mixed veggies to things to balance it. Plus a water. Healthy.

Dude seriously? 1- not a man and 2- how is this not carbonara?

Carbonera has 4 ingredients. Eggs, black pepper, parmesan, pancetta (bacon). Adding cream is blasphemy.

Everyone is a man and yeah what he said.

Isn't that just an Alfredo?

Similar but carbonara uses egg in its sauce. Alfredo is more cheese, butter and garlic.

They're all equally delicious.

Amen to that!!

Did you use any dairy? A true carbonara doesn’t use dairy other than cheese. Just pasta water and egg for the sauce.

Used cream in place of the water. Recipe is old from a book my mum has. I'm not complaining though.

No mushrooms?

Didn't have any. Normally I add chicken and mushrooms but couldn't be buggered going to the shop.

Fair enough. I've never added chicken to mine before though, sounds like a good combo.

It's more so from being in a big family with a single mum. We added extras to stretch a dish between us all and to this day I still do it.

Oh that's cool, a bit nostalgic then?

Very. My daughter and other half love having that family meal time together.

Thought it was the 35 degrees Celsius in the evening. I'm in QLD and I don't even think it's that hot here right now

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

You have more moisture in the air to help with that. We have very little here at the moment. Supposed to be 39 tomorrow. Yay.

It's funny because some people claim it's easier to cope with when it's a dry heat. I just hate heat altogether.
