Apparently, it's morally wrong to be charged for the provision of water, maintenance of pipes, and filtering of groundwater. Who knew?

Irish government are privatizing the water service and costing each household a much higher expense, so the people are protesting it

Good for them, fuck the system!

what is fundamentally wrong with being charged for the water you consume instead of a flat rate for everyone? its not healthcare

Also it's not based on consumption. Not all houses have water meters and are just charged a rate per person per household

that's when you get your shit together as a bation and have meters on every household. just like electricity & gas

It's against privatization of water. We also already pay for water through a higher rate of taxation brought in in the 90's.

completely agree with the anti privatisation, but all the banners seem to be just about 'no' to water charges

What do you pay per month (or per L/gallon)?

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

this does not include council rates / land taxes / etc

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

It's a percentage of your earnings rather than use at present.

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

That doesn't make any sense. I understand it, but the question is "why?"

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Quarterly bill = $142.67 sewerage / $31.33 water service + $2.168 per kl

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

That

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

That's not bad for quarterly. I was paying around $100 USD per month in one city.

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

yep it adds up to that (in australia). as i said the anti privatisation thing i agree with 100%. methinks these guys are just whingers
