Lots of progress, I, for first time in years, have hope I can one day be in "real world" without daily terror of drinking.

Hell yeah, way to go! Best decision you'll ever make. Good for you :)

OP. I am so very proud of you.
I wish you continued success on your sobriety journey. ❤️

CONGRATS!!! Absolutely loved the statement about being dragged. Old timers in a meeting said "breath in, breath out & don't drink in-between ". Also I agree with other comment about finding a meeting that fits you, they're ALL different. Some days are not day by day or min by min, but down to moment by moment. Enjoy your new life. I'm at 17yrs, think ill make it to tomorrow. I protect my sobriety like I use to protect my drinking.

Great job! This sober life is one to fight for. It gets better and easier. Just remember to take it one day at a time and before you know it, you’ll have accumulated some time. 💚🐦🔥

Here's the rest of your life my friend.

Work the program. Work the program.

"It works if you work it, you're worth it so work it" and all that :D

Congrats, I did 1 month in rehab and just hit month 10. Make sure to go to meetings when you get out, they do help.

Congratulations! 8.5 yrs here. Catch a meeting. Not like the movies. Find one you like. One day at a time. Good Luck!

Remember to be careful around social triggers.
They can sneak up on you in a lot of situations.
BananaForScaIe
Yeah, "awareness" is really key for me :) Great advice!

Learning what your behavioural triggers are for certain behaviours is one of the keys to changing any habit.
Most people don't think to look out for them when quitting until they have already messed up.

Congrats, @OP.
Day # 914, & it's such a complete life-change I'm still amazed at how long I clung to that habit. It was, literally trying to kill me.
Currently in therapy for grief/ loss, one of the people in my weekly group meeting remarked, "Let go, or be dragged," & I can't come up with a better analogy of the alcohol addiction problem I was having. Stay hydrated & remember to thank yourself at least once daily for loving yourself enough to find a way out of the psychological escape room.

Congrats! Today is day 909 for me haha

Stay strong, friend.
