Anyone interested in a cultural exchange?

Jun 23, 2019 10:53 PM

I’ve really been getting into grilling/open fire cooking this year, trying new recipes, new cuts and new sauces. Next on my list is a real Alabama white sauce, but the majority of recipes I find imply that Duke’s is the one and only mayo to start with. Duke’s isn’t available in Canada (unless you want to pay a $50 premium through third parties, plus delivery) so I thought I’d ask the fine people of imgur to see if anyone from the south would be interested in shipping me a couple jars. In return I’ll send the equivalent in your currency of what I’ve found to be the best overall pre-made Canadian BBQ sauce, or if you have a specific desire for another product that is available to me but not to you, that’s cool too.

Dukes is cheap here in the Carolinas, similar pricing to miracle whip but GOOD

I'm a born and breed New Yorker and I couldn't agree more. After discovering dukes there was no other mayo.

A Canadian offering BBQ sauce and not maple syrup?!

If maple syrup is what you want, maple syrup is what you’ll get! Just figured they sold that everywhere though.

CDN$ 138.57 for a pack of 4 - 32 oz jars, is Mayo the crack cocaine of the north?

I can't tell the difference between Duke's and Hellman's. But, maybe others can.

I personally prefer helmans, and I'm from the definition of North/South. DELMARVA

Dukes is a southern thing as is white bbq sauce that’s probably why they call for it. Dukes is a bit tangier then most mayo. More vinegar.

So it shouldn’t make much of a difference in the recipe bc white bbq sauce is basically just mayo and vinegar.
