Honestly, Paizo's Pathfinder is really good. In fact, it's still compatible with most 3.5 books and it's prettier.

Going to play me some of that today, and as a hardcore 3.5 fan I love Pathfinder.

Love me some 3.5! I have the leather bound books and still use them in place of the edition which shall not be named.

There is something magical about finding what you need when sifting through a book, instead of a PDF.

...why?

4th edition was a nuclear trainwreck of a mess so bad even godzilla would snub his nose and it and go elsewhere to stomp around.

Cause 4th edition was an utter disgrace? Maybe they lack faith in 5th edition? I'm not really sure... But it's 50 dollars a book.

4th was a cool replacement for MageKnight. And yeah, sounds like about what RPG books cost.

Also, why would I toss aside my $1000+ collection of 3.x, d20, etc books?

12 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Why would you spend 1,000 dollars on those books when you could just download the PDFs? Table top gamers are not a wealthy breed.

This table top gamer was single and in the Navy, lots of spare cash, also why I wear a Rolex nowadays. Books are more satisfying than PDFs

12 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Agreed. Not about the Rolex, why wear a Rolex when you can ask a friend to check the time on their phone?

3.x is still the biggest selling version of D&D. They're trying to keep people from switching to Pathfinder.

Too late. Lol.

And failing, because Pathfinder is the One True RPG

12 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 2

Personally, I find it more exciting to combine them. Why separate them? It's under an open game license and they are easily made compatible.

I agree combining is best, pathfinder fixed so many problems, and 3.5 has all the best expansions and editions (ToB:BoNS fan myself)

Exactly, I like the fluidity Pathfinder introduced, but there are some classes in D&D 3.5 that I just love. Like Warmage or Scout.

12 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

That is very true, but I kinda like how Pathfinder doesn't require like 50 books for additional rules and classes

That's why online SRD databases are so handy. They have a search function and everything! Like magic!

12 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

True, but I like to own the books, and I just gave up on all the 3.x books
