I watched these videos for hours on end for my first real job. It was amazing.

TIL there is a certain point in which a tire grows big enough to be injured and require medical treatment.

Holy phuk I'm tired after that post....

After viewing the tie truck explosions on here lately, one of these going off must be like a tactical nuclear strike.

There are so many things I do not know how to do, repairing a giant tire is now not one of them.

Poor cat got something in his leg

As someone who did light vehicle mechanics and tyre fitting for several years, this was a good watch. Thank you.

This post was tiring.

Surprisingly interesting for some reason

Whats the pressure of one of those? Do they ever burst?

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

A machine that size (looks like a 80-100 tonne) dumper is in the thousands psi. Has to be pressure checked by a professional.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

In regards to bursting, yes they can but very rarely as I mentioned the professionals will check regularly and the operators daily.

Why not just change a tire?

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

The tire costs a lot. 30K through 60K apparently.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

How are you supposed to hold it under water to see if it's air tight? how big is your sink?

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

That was cool but a lot of gifs.

9 years ago | Likes 26 Dislikes 5

yeah, but so worth it

9 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

Really impressive - does the cushion gum get vulcanised somehow?

9 years ago | Likes 170 Dislikes 2

Just say "Live long and prosper". That typically works.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I imagine it's room temperature vulcanized, but I dunno.

9 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Atleast where i used to work they aplied heat to both sides for several hours with electric heating pads...

9 years ago | Likes 42 Dislikes 1

I guessed it'd be something like that. The full video shows the box marked "Uncured patch" but never shows it curing.

9 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

No. they prefer klingons. Tougher outer skin.

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I wonder what those damn things cost?

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

The tyre that size is about $30k depending on the size or type. The repair depending on how bad can be $2k - $4k.
