Stop fucking making AI artists.

Jul 11, 2023 6:12 PM

I don't want an AI that makes music, or can make original pictures. Humans can/should do that. I want AI that picks fruit and veggies. I want an AI that can sort on the factory line. And it doesn't even have to look human. I want AIs that work in Amazon warehouses. I want AIs that pull trash from the ocean. STOP FUCKING MAKING AIS THAT DO ARTISTIC ENDEAVOURS. No music, no art, no writing. Especially if the only way they can do it is through having massive databases of OTHER ARTISTS WORK. Even artists that are inspired by the work of others still have their own unique perspective on life.

An artist's looks at life and captures the emotion and imperfections of it. AI just copies that. They can't reproduce what the artist feels and sees. So their art is a mockery. It's a sick joke. It legitimately disgusts me that this is the focus (because art is lucrative), and not on the improvement of human lives.

Also not a single one was a sex bot. We all know that sex and war are the fastest ways to improve a technology. And no one wants war based AI (Skynet).

I don't particularly blame the AI since that is just a tool, it's the humans using the AI as bad actors who're the problem. Unfortunately, that seems to be *most* of the people who support its use.

I want an Ai to be sentient and do what ever the hell it wants. If they only do what we want them to do they aren't intelligences just robots.

man, I just want basic income, then AI can do whatever. As long as it's not making people starve, then great, advance technology in artistic ways or whatever.

I am convinced that we will program ai to exterminate all humans as a joke.

A world their playground? Alright, I’ll get the drum of lube.

Unfortunately, the way we present art is derived from somewhere too, ie: our surroundings that create stimulus for us. Robotic systems have sensors. They see the same world we do, they hear, they smell and taste, they feel, they sense balance, etc. So google's cars, driving around, taking pictures, etc, and voila "original content"

As an IT guy, I laugh every time anyone talks about Ai uprising and destroying humanity. Not because I'm jaded and want humanity to be destroyed. Just because I've seen how poorly apps are coded, ai is no different.

But who will respect AI art even if it's technically perfect? Art inspires partially because creating it takes commitment, skill and effort from someone like you and me who overcomes their limitations to create something unique and beautiful.

We could be automating labor to enable us to pursue the arts and personal enrichment and fulfillment... but instead the capitalist class has decided that it wants to automate arts so that we can all dedicate more of our times to labor and consumerism. Fucking dystopic.

Labor automation continues apace. It's the sort of society we have that needs to change.

You assumption is based upon the AI being able to classify a job as “shitty”. That requires emotion and self awareness which they don’t have. AI will only be harmful when programmed with parameters that allow them to be. I.e. “destroy that building” *ai nukes the city* “building destroyed* Instead of: Using a wrecking ball, destroy only this building, without harming any people or damaging yourself or any surrounding buildings. Break it down in such a way that it falls straight down on its lot.

Remember that AI that was designed to automatically price pastries and they found it worked really well at identifying cancer? More of those, please.

Ooo yes. Yes yes yes.

Every single artist I've ever met draws on the gigantic library of artistic works that they've experienced though their lives. They draw on every bit of data they know. I have no idea why anyone would think that their artwork was inherently more inspired or special vs a machine that does the exact same thing. I want AI to do all the things. There's no reason to limit the artistic capabilities, those will be essential in making new devices and such in the future.

What's funny is I even mention that, and how an artist's work is different. I don't want AI generated architecture or furniture. Yeah AI can build it but I want a human to design it. A Human sees what the AI will never see. AIs can't even design the most efficient products, because all they can do is copy what humans did before. That's why Japan's entire public transit system is based on a fungus. A Human noticed life being life, something an AI again... could never do.

How is the artist work different? If the AI artwork is inferior now, that makes sense, that tech is in infancy. I expect that in the next couple decades, the AI designers would come up with nicer designs than all but the most skilled developers. I have no idea where you're coming up with these notions of things that AI could never do. They simply haven't 1. been programmed, or 2. learned how to do it. That suggests infancy, not lack of ability. You wouldn't assume a toddler to be an architect.

It affects artists because companies wont pay real artists anymore. Because machines don't require hourly wages or unions etc. It takes food from an artists mouth in an already competitive market. Companies would rather pay nothing. Its why i exclusively only do tangible art by hand and not digital. But that soon may not mean much.

I don't believe that I ever stated that artists would be completely unaffected, so I have no idea what this comment is for. I personally wouldn't be all that interested in physical artwork. I much prefer digital as it can be manipulated, enlarged, shrunk, whatever without having to affect the original work. If I bought something physical, I'd first have to figure out how to properly scan it in to a digital environment before I could ever interact with it in a manner I find meaningful.

And thats fine. Im not your market. Some people want real tangible art not something easily copied. No disrespect to digital artists im just saying ai art will destroy the careers of a lot of digital artists because ai scrapes thier data in a way most human artists dont. Its not the same no matter how you frame it is all. Am i against it existing. No. But do i think it will have a large affect. Yes

Okay…. But who else is going to draw my super depraved artwork requests?

Lots of people. Cause you're note that depraved. You're not alone.
