I doubt any American thought the POTUS had such a wide berth to abuse power in 2016.
So reevaluating presidential power under Biden isn’t an attack on Biden as much as its future proofing the country. Revisit the parameters around the 25th amendment.
Too many times we were left asking ourselves: can he really do that?

The 3 branch checks and balances of power is a joke- as we witnessed countless times over the last 4 years.

It's less about the amount of power the president has, and the enabling congress allowed. Checks and balances, didn't happen.

I came to say this. POTUS is more of a scapegoat than most realize. He did mostly what I was expecting in the executive branch.
ChickenFingerFingers
Trump had such wide berth because HE BROKE THE LAW and the other branches didn't hold him accountable.

Checks and balances almost utterly failed.

And we need to get those “unwritten rules of the office” as documented laws

I agree, but I'm not holding my breath. Never again electing such a horrible person may be the best answer we have for a while at least...

Also, the Senate Majority leader should be limited in how much they can obstruct legislation. Mitch did nearly as much damage as Trump.

As a sort-of-Dem, we also need to roll back some shit we did during the Obama administration to make things easier with smaller majorities.

The founding fathers designed our government to be slow and inefficient specifical so 1 president couldn't enacted enough laws to cripple...

the country. Trump was so devastating BECAUSE he illegally circumvented presidential limits. OP asks an impossible task for Biden
Lemmingofdarkestnight
Can we also reign in congressional power too? Maybe get some campaign finance reform? Election reform? Un-fuck the census? Term limits?
Ravenselm
I second the term limits. Also I think they shouldn't be able to dump 50+ things into one bill. There should be a cap.
Lemmingofdarkestnight
That's a harder needle to thread. That's where the 'line item veto' idea came from, but that would be abused. And Pork has always been there
