uBlock

7 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Yeah but who put the malware there? Bad dudes or disgruntled imgur nerds?

7 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

That would explain why having the app open often crashes my phone's OS to the point of having to force restart.

7 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

Thank you for this! I'm going to comment with this picture on every ad I see on here.

7 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

If they stopped doing this, I would not have Adblock on this site. Imgur was the reason I got Adblock.

7 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I'd rather just pay for the app than have ads like that, honestly.

7 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

Classic Imgur.

7 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Imgur app stays open even if I close it on Android. Have to force stop it from settings every time. Deleted.

7 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

The app literally freezes my phone from ads. It's a newer phone too. They are shady as fuck. Imgur needs to at least filter who advertises.

7 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Yeah, I sent them a mail, no response. Mostly they try to act like a company, but for that they should respond to security-inqueries

7 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Yes @OP. Most viral. Ironic, amirite?

7 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

hehehe.

7 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Has anyone else noticed if you post anything at all critical on an ad post you get immediately downvoted like crazy. It's fucked up we can't

7 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 1

Even see the downvotes those posts have. Paying to get to the frontpage makes imgur pay to win

7 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 1

was having issues with ublock, kept crashing. Remove it for a day, randomly went on imgur and get sketchy ads that try to make me dl flash

7 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

[Laughs in Masterrace] what even is an ad?

7 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 4

malware...literally the only reason i use adblockers. I used to be against adblockers until a friend mentioned malware+othershitthatharmsCPU

7 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

7 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 3

You know at least on Android they use Google for the ads... Report the ads to google.

7 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

How does one figure out if there is already malware on your device due to imgur? And get it removed?

7 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Reporting bad ads is like pulling teeth too. Had a popup ad for play store and tried for 20 minutes to figure out how to report it

7 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

I can report a lady showing ankle amd get the post taken down even if it's marked mature(welcome to Iran?) In 2 clicks though

7 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

Imgurs the new Limewire

7 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Imgur, I understand why you need sds but you need to do a better job at monitoring them and reviewing them. Please improve

7 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 1

They should perhaps create a monthly subscription or something. For those who don't want to see the ads. Servers cost money man.

7 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

They did that. Sort of. Pay a small amount and never see ads again I had 3 years of ad free imgur without adblock before they broke the deal

7 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

The adblock companies sell the data related to the sites that were blocked. No free rides...

7 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Exploit me anyway, okay, at least they don't do it in an annoying way.

7 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Adblock is malware protection. If a site asks you to turn it off, tell them to go fuck themselves.

7 years ago | Likes 36 Dislikes 3

You forgot to add this:

7 years ago | Likes 772 Dislikes 1

Haa ... He also wrote most "viral".

Download blokada for Android say good buy to ad's

7 years ago | Likes 39 Dislikes 7

It is great, thanks for recommending it. I don't suppose you have any apps like Terrarium or CartoonHD to recommend as well?

7 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

I've posted this so many times. Glad you know and spread the good word!

7 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 1

(Downloads Blokada for Android on iPhone) Hey guys it didn’t work!

7 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Thanks for the tip. Just installed it and the app runs smooth as fresh butter on warm toast.

7 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

just got it, thank you good sir

7 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Just installed ot

7 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

. it works!

7 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Just installed it. Now scrolling through imgur is smooth as butter

7 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

Yeah, now welcome to the world of the DNS servers that block ads being way slower than regular.

7 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Maybe this is why my phone starts burning up whenever I use the app

7 years ago | Likes 271 Dislikes 2

You might be the victim of a lil coin mining my dude

7 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

So im not the only one then...

7 years ago | Likes 14 Dislikes 0

No thats the amount of trackers they have. I use Blockada and it wiped out that issue.

7 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

I swear I must be the only one who doesnt have this issue. Like, my phone has never gotten even slightly warmer using the app.

7 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

Same.

7 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Do you have a case on your phone?

7 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Yes. Covers everything but the screen. Hard plastic with some soft rubber. Not otter box or similar.

7 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Do you ever have the app crash, or just close and reopen to the homepage for no reason? 'Cause that's my problem. Super battery drain, too.

7 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

Yes to crash/freezing. Ehh on battery. I mean, it uses less than games.

7 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Nope.

7 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Even better, the day they turned off the ads, not only was app buttery smooth, my phone didn't catch on fire. I'm sure they're coin mining.

7 years ago | Likes 110 Dislikes 1

I keep sending emails to their "tech support" and they say "issue documented, fix underway" and give ya a fraggin meme for your time @Martyn

7 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

When is the next major video game release? I'd like another ad free day.

7 years ago | Likes 33 Dislikes 2

Smash Bros should be soon, but Nintendo probably won't fund an ad free day

7 years ago | Likes 16 Dislikes 0

Adblock, people! Dump their stupid app and adblock yo shit! Denying them that revenue is the only that that MIGHT get thru.

7 years ago | Likes 139 Dislikes 14

Yeap plenty non root adblockers on mobi. Make sure your adnlockers on tho..yuk yuk

7 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 2

Or, use lucky patcher and remove all the ads from the app itself.

7 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Ironically on this post (but it seems to variate slightly the past week) moatads has been dumped for me :')

7 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

How? Apk? Or from playstore?

7 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Blokada.org

7 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

Honest question, they can't provide this service for free, how do you purpose they fund it?

7 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 1

I would HAPPILY go back to the days of $20 a year. Even $30. I might even tolerate WELL REGULATED, legit ads. But this shit they do now...

7 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

On top of everything else - reduce bloated business. It worked perfect 5 years ago. Why do we need all the added crap noone asked for??

7 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Blokada people. Blocks everything on device. Makes the imgur app usable and not a battery drain.

7 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

What do you got for an iPhone

7 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

Um sorry dunno. On older Samsung for you to use?

7 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Money well wasted

7 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

Host shouldn't be running questionable ads in the first place.

7 years ago | Likes 126 Dislikes 4

I've just assumed basically every ad on the internet could have malware on it for like 15 years now. None of this surprises me.

7 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

Hosts run malware because it pays good. Users block ads. Host notices recreased revenue, runs even more malware.

7 years ago | Likes 24 Dislikes 0

7 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Blokada on phones works wonders

7 years ago | Likes 19 Dislikes 0

Yep using it right now. First time I fired up the imgur app with it on it blocked 4 trackers before I'd tapped the first image.

7 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 1

I doubt that. They see ads are being clicked less, they make the ads even more annoying and malware-like. Ad people are unable to think.

7 years ago | Likes 17 Dislikes 6

Thats not how ad services work. Imgur doesn't pick what ads we see, that's a third party

7 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 2

Yes, that's how that third party works.

7 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Right, but Imgur does choose how and where on the page ads are displayed. If impressions/clicks go down, saturation will likely go up.

7 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

Not if they have half a brain. That'll only lead to more people blocking the ads or stopping using Imgur, as they become more repellant.

7 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

If they had half a brain they would of cut the bullshit long ago. Instead, more ads with each "update"

7 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Wants you to use their app....app doesn't work

7 years ago | Likes 709 Dislikes 4

Every now and then the app will crash before I finish reading an interesting post and it's gone forever

7 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

*forces you to use their app

7 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

Been using mobile web for a month. It's a bit crippled, but it gets the job done without overheating my phone.

7 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Uses app, 10% battery gone in 3 minutes wtf

7 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

older versions are worse, the last few updates fixed most of the issues

7 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Wants you to use the unusable app, so they gut the mobile site

7 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

Opengur is so much better. No ads, gifs and videos don't autoplay, doesn't drain your battery in the background

7 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I should just make my own imgur app, no ads. I'm sure I can get imgurs old source code.

7 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

With blackjack! And hookers!

7 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

For fucking real though. I tired of this app making my phone the core of the sun, then resetting back to the beginning of the FP.

7 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 1

Use FF with uBlock Origin and "Request Desktop Site". Works like a charm.

7 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

True, but that's still no excuse for poor optimization.

7 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Of course not, but the purpose of the app is not a perfect user experience but data (and perhaps crypto) mining with some add revenue.

7 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Get "Lucky Patcher" and kill all the advertisers in the app itself!

7 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Fucking love lucky patcher

7 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

How do you get lucky patcher

7 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Just google it and go to the official page.

7 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Uninstall and install an older version. Never updating again

7 years ago | Likes 91 Dislikes 3

I did this with one two years old and that app still crashed just as much. Use opengur.

7 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I got ios 10.0 still ?

7 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

I did that for a while. Finally uninstalled all version of the app when I realized imgur was using massive amounts of data in the background

7 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

Did the same. My battery last a lot longer, but I can no longer cook pancakes on my phone

7 years ago | Likes 24 Dislikes 1

You're cooking pancakes wrong.

7 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

Doesn't matter, got pancakes.

7 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

Upvoted, although that’s worked well on my Android I haven’t found a way to do the same on an iphone.

7 years ago | Likes 29 Dislikes 0

Get a better phone then install an older version.

7 years ago | Likes 35 Dislikes 11

I mean, if you like Android better that’s fine... But the only thing that killed my 6 yo iPhone 5 was being run over by a semi. I could(1/2)

7 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 1

(2/2) still plug it in and save all of my data afterwards because of the sturdy frame. Android is fine. I personally prefer iPhone.
