Background: Way back before the internet, shop owners near the stadium would fly a W or L flag to signify whether the Cubs would the game1/3
*I meant "won", not "would"
The flags would spread like a wave, when one shop owner saw a W flag, they would put up their W flag so the city knew who won the game 2/3
This tradition still happens today. Btw, W stands for a Win, L stands for a Loss. 3/3

the Chicago Cubs' (Baseball) win flag. They fly the W above Wrigley field when the Cubs win, and they just won the world series.
