Our first house remodel DIY

Jan 31, 2024 9:05 PM

I took pictures from the listing, and then took comparative pictures after our work was done. This house took us 2 years to get this much done (and not all of it is picture), and we ended up selling it for a bigger house when we decided to have more kids.

My oldest still misses it! He was a baby when we were halfway done and grew up a bit with the finished result. He asks to see it from time to time.

Anyway, this is the living room before ^^^

Living room after!

Shared bedroom before...

Master bedroom after! (We also converted one of the two closets into a bathroom with a shower)

Kitchen before...

Kitchen after! We put a microwave where the fridge used to be (there wasn't a spot for one before), and we put a toaster oven that fit perfectly in that little nook by the fridge.

Attic before...

Attic after! We added a closet to make it a legitimate bedroom. The baby gate was for our kid, but we recommended the buyers to keep it because the stairs were super steep.

Exterior before...

Exterior after!

This house was our first project together as a family, and we loved it! We just had to move on when we kept growing. It has come a long, long way since but I will always have fond memories of this home.

Hope you like the transformation. The buyers sure did! :)

P.s. I realize we picked a lot of blue but it's better than the stark white and gray most houses get remodeled with these days. The laundry room (not pictured) went from orange to lavender and white, and the kid's room was just white. All wood floors throughout until we added carpet to the attic room.

#1 Looks like they used coloured lacquer. You made it so much better.
