I think we have gotten a bit ridiculous here people. If you want to replace 17 rolls of paper towels, then just use your dish cloth. You can throw it in the laundry and keep using it over and over again and save even more trees.

Fabricate chain saw, run with oil & gas, vehicles to cut, trim, bring wood to factory, process pulp to make paper towels, package in plastic

Or, make a cloth you can use over and over and over again, heat a bit of water and run a pump. I disagree with your statement.

True, but the paper towel consumption per cloth is staggering. The cloth is made once, so negligible in comparison.
