This is Malik. My Red Nigerian Uromastyx. The Uromastyx species originates from the Middle East and upper Africa.
They are desert dwellers who enjoy a temperature range of roughly 80°F–140°F (27°C–60°C)
As well as humidity levels between 0%–20%. Living in the swamps of Louisiana makes it difficult to keep under control, but can be done with proper equipment and bedding.
Fun fact, they mostly live in sandy deserts, but some enjoy partial soil mixture (roughly 20-80 soil to sand) to facilitate burrowing.
My guy used to corner and wall surf, read about it as a way to get him to stop; so mixed some topsoil/sphagnum mix into his immitation sand (i use walnut shell) and it didn't take him long to start flinging it everywhere and making himself at home.
This is Pelé. A "flame" morph Crested Gecko, one of the many gecko species to come out of the island of New Caledonia.
They are crepuscular species, meaning they are active at dusk and dawn; sleeping during the middle of the day and night.
They enjoy temps ranging between 68°–74°F/20°–23°C & humidity that gradually goes between 50–60% during the day to 80–90% at night.
Normally they are very friendly and social geckos, except for mine who is frightened of the smallest movement.
After almost a year, she is no closer to being used to my presence since the day she arrived.
Followed everything by the book, took it slow and calm, waited month before attempting to handle; closest i get is a few seconds of frightened stillness with my hand in the tank, but any closer and she darts.
Ah well. She is cute and the occasional sight of her feeding or just out and about brightens the room.
This is my friend's dog Deena May. She is a mix of West Highland White Terrier, a Chihuahua, and Yorkie.
She is a rescue from a puppy mill and i have no idea how old she is. She was old when I met her in 2014.
