I am a gen1 child. Red to be precise. Had to get Charmander as my starter. I would say my favorite now is Gengar.

Vulpix / Ninetails were always my OG favorites. I would build my teams around that one pokemon back in the days of Red/Blue. Every game where there's a vulpix present, it has to be on my team.

As a kid I thought Ninetales was fire/psychic.
But I agree, it has a great design and it's also based on a cool mythical creature.

Being an entomologist, I always loved Heracross. It's based on the Japanese rhinoceros beetle, which is a really cool critter.
Also Volcarona and Venomoth, for the same reason. It's hard not to love pretty moths.

I see. TIL. It would make sense for a Japanese game in the first place, since Japanese has a mad culture around beetles. How do you feel about insects taxidermy? For or against?
Bestiarium
For, because it's a significant part of entomological research. I don't enjoy killing animals but I'd be a hypocrite to condemn insect collecting.

I see. Killing animals aside, there is something appealing to it. Close up in 2/ not mine, just came upon it while visiting someone's office.
