Oh why hello there I'm posting twice in a row. Here is a more regular collection of memes, with a little more whimsy (horny?) and a little less dread.

I fucked up the numbering on the last one if anyone is wondering about the title which no one probably was

Sunlight sparkles <3

.

I use this line all the time now

They might be?

.

But I want it

Hmm

Wrong.

@TheAncientSea

Things are still real bad in Western North Carolina. Now it's snowing early and so many people have no homes or heat. :(

.

Yeah. This sums up the feels lately.

YES DO IT

.

If you write poetry prudence brooks is an amazing writer but also posts the best damn poetry memes over on insta

Before you ask in the comments this is a reference to Wild Geese by Mary Oliver. I'll try to remember to look up a link and post it. Incredible poem

.

The moon is so pretty tonight (this isn't tonight and not my photo lol)

That tracks.

.

.

This is the correct take

.

I def can't read this without it being to the tune

Sometimes things line up so perfectly

There were many great memes here. Thank you for the nice respite

#27 look, women have to be breasty, perky creatures with just enough pluck to get into trouble but not enough skill to get out of it, y'see?

#6 2 interesting facts about TMBG. They were originally called "Giants" but another band had taken the name so they needed something at the last minute. Istanbul (not Constantinople) was a cover.

#34 The scientific name for this is literally the Goldilocks Zone. Just right indeed.

#21 There's literally a whole John Scalzi novel about this it's not news 😂 but seriously, Starter Villain is an amazing book

#13 the rats weren't sick. And it's was most likely spread between cities via seasonal workers. Rats (more precisely the fleas they carried) spread it around the cities

#39 especially when we know what we put out is what we experience.

#14 cuts really deep. I'm one of the best in the country at my very specialised job, work a second part time job, and can still barely provide for my small family. Working massive chunks of a single finite existence and for what? To just scrape by?

#21 I've been looking for more slurs for humans.

#9 I understand it perfectly, I fucking hate it, but "all of your money is going to the 6 wealthiest people who have ever lived" is a simple concept.

No, teach her everything about corvids that you can. They'll do more for her than a priest ever could. Plus, there's no chance they'll molest your kid.

#9 what's there not to understand? The rich take as much as they can, and manipulate the system to enable them to take even more. It's all working as intended: your misery and poverty are the expected outcome.

1 day ago | Likes 31 Dislikes 0

The cruelty is, and always has been, the point. The fact that those at the top get ridiculously rich is a pleasant side effect for them, but the cruelty is the main goal.

"I have concepts of an impeachable offense." -some ancient combover with a sociopath stuck in it, probably

#12 I don't understand why people take photos others in private, vulnerable states then show them to everyone for attention. "Hey everybody, look at this picture I took of a lady crying. Isn't that special?"

#9 Daycare centers cost more for a few reasons. 1 - They have to funnel profits up to management and shareholders. 2 - They have a lot of rules and regulations they need to comply with. These are good things that you want, or else you end up with pre-k fight clubs.

In home care is cheaper, but you have to put a lot of trust in a single person that you may not know that well. As a new parent it can be pretty terrifying to hand over your heart to someone you've only met a few times.

#14 reminds me of once I read about living life in a warzone, and like yeah bombs went off last night, but still gotta go to work and buy groceries on the way home, and your lucky if you can. So it creates this wierdness that becomes normal after enough of it.

#9 Welcome to Reaganomics. "It'll trickle down eventually..."

A Canadian-American economist once wrote that 'trickle-down' was just a new name for "horse-and-sparrow theory, the idea that feeding a horse a huge amount of oats will result in some of the feed passing through for lucky sparrows to eat." (In blunter words, 'I get mine; Everyone else eat shit.' -- Or a pyramid scheme as economic policy). I've never found any confirming info on that but it rings true enough conceptually and anyway, they tried to get him fired. Republicans, they were. Weird.

For colleges, blame the states shifting ever more of the cost burden onto the students. It used to be states funded 90%+ of public 4-year university tuition and housing costs in the form of grants and scholarship programs. In my state in 1980, student tuition accounted for ~25% of revenue. In 2023, it accounted for nearly 65%. More than doubling the operational burden on students just to attend.

FUCKING WHEN?!

1 day ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

When it finishes *gushing* upward.

1 day ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

It's been trickling down the whole time, it's just that "it" is piss instead of wealth.

1 day ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

#9 Because the core concept of enshittification is to screw over *both* the customers/clients *and* the employees in order to extract maximum "value". It should not be an issue of "how does this work", it should be "the system is doing exactly what it is designed to do, and that must change".

#46 which one do we fix with bloodletting?

1 day ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Cortisol, but you have to be letting other people's blood.

#33 Are the bookshelves full or...?

1 day ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

In my case, it would not matter. I would fill them. Some with books. Some with games. Maybe one with film/TV shows. AND THEN DEVOTE AN ENTIRE WING TO THE LEGO SETS.

Ah, hadn't seen the description. She's sad coz of the climate change that "we don't need to worry about"

Hurricane Helene left a lot of people stranded in the mountains in Appalachia. There are many places no one can get to except by mule. The mule teams have been up there saving lives and I've seen multiple things about the empathy and love the animals give to traumatized folks.
