Elder Scrolls Online [Beta]

This is the symbol for ESO. It represents three groups attempting to take control of Cyrodil. What's interesting is that your Race determines which force you are on, making race choice an important feature.

My character

Loading screens are stunning pictures of the landscapes of your next location.

Animals

This is a Bull Netch. Like many other animals it is large, unusual and rather cool looking. Their eggs can also be used as a Netch spawning weapon.

This is a base of operations inside a tree. Nuff said.

Questing

Questing is similar to many other Elder Scroll games; There are bajillions and some of them have multiple options. This game makes sure that all quests are rewarding.

New environments

Big mushrooms are commonly found in certain places. (Windmill for scale)

Equip system

The system for Equipping items has had a great speed boost from Skyrim, which unfortunately warrants the removal of the favorite weapons feature.

Fighting

After bashing an enemy, you might get a message saying left click to exploit. This pushes the enemy down giving a larger opportunity to strike.

A great new addition to the gameplay are the squares at the bottom of the screen. Each square can be given a special move, which is used by a number key. These moves are unlocked and upgraded by points given for leveling up. The first two moves are stabs which are good for assassination. The third move absorbs your enemy's life, and the fourth one allows you to teleport to your target and instantly strike. The fifth one causes you to duck and strike which usually stuns the opponent.

I've participated in 3 weekends now and I have to say I'm disappointed. Difficult to say why in 140 characters, but I won't be buying it.

Well for one thing, you have to buy it. Then pay more every month. And it looks like a shit mix between skyrim and WoW IMO.

It will be a commercial failure

You would be surprised, the gameplay is as good as Skyrim and the NPCs keep it feeling like an Elder Scroll game despite being online.

I put 50 hours into the beta. As a gaming critic, you'll see a lot of issues arise from ESO, and the game will crash similar to FFXIV v1.0

This isn't me arguing, I'm just curious, but could you provide some examples?

The ui and combat systems were a complete disappointment to me.

Really? I felt it was a great improvement except the removal of the favorites menu.

I haven't played the other games... I'm an mmorpg player so I was interested in this. Coming from playing 2-3 others I didn't like this ui.

I can understand that but the goal seemed more to be to make an easy adjustment for Scrolls players, unfortunately excluding MMO players.

The problem with that is they really may lose out on a lot of people. I know 5 other people who have tried it and won't play it based on ui.

Write an email to Bethesda, I feel like they would take this into consideration.

It is NOT ESO. It is "an mmorpg that looks like ESO", pretty much. If you like MMORPG'S: Give it a shot. IYL ESO, don't.

What?

It isn't TES, is what I wanted to say. If you like Elderscrolls, this isn't "Elder scrolls V: just online this time". Sorry for confusion

I love MMOs and the elder scrolls is one of my favourite game series of all time. Unfortunately... ESO is still a disappointment.

Well, that can still happen I 'spose.
