Hi all. Some of you may be used to me posting cats, and talking about feline behavior. Well, I’m now the shelter manager at a new shelter and I work with dogs too! I haven’t really posted since I got the new job, so I wanted to share some of the cute photos and videos I’ve taken!
This lady is Tamera. We’ve been needing more Kuranda beds and towers for ages, and a volunteer bought this one for us! She loves it and she loves people.
This is Stewie. He arrived yesterday. He was named Stumpie because he had a traumatic amputation to his back right foot. He is putting weight on the stump when he walks, which means he’s likely gonna have recurrent infections and lesions on the stump- so we’re opting to amputate the whole leg at the vet’s recommendation. Tripod cats do great (we have two others right now) so I’m not worried about him long term.
This is Thelma. She also arrived yesterday. She is a sassy girl!
Compilation video of a bunch of cats playing.
This is Bob, one of the tripods I mentioned. He’s pretty shy but he’s playful and that’s helping him come out of his shell.
This is Shreek in his favorite cozy box!
Shreek out of his box. He’s super friendly.
Shreek had an FHO so had to be in a cone for a bit. He was super tolerant of it.
Tigger. She loves sitting in her window and watching people.
Ray Ray, who manages to make puppy dog eyes even though he has no eyes. He’s a very sweet dog.
Blackberry, a shy 8 month old who’s been coming out of her shell for play.
Gatsby and Athena. They’re in our FeLV room. Both sweeties.
Ivy. She’s a model. She’s already been adopted.
This is Boxer. He seemed real sweet but I didn’t get to know him cause he was adopted like two days after he arrived.
Halibut and Topo knocked their bed into their litter box! Topo has been adopted. Halibut had a hernia surgery. He’s getting a recheck today and will hopefully get the cone off and go back to being available for adoption.
Rudy. He loves his Kuranda tower. We don’t have enough for all the cat rooms right now, and getting enough is one of my main goals!
Foosball. He was suuuper hissy/growly the day he arrived, but 24 hours later, he proved to be an affectionate boy. Still a bit handling sensitive.
Face plant!
Ziggy! He is such a good boy.
Betsy! A puppy who’s been adopted.
Perla is a queen.
Rudy doesn’t like being picked up, and because most of our cats are cohoused we have to weigh them regularly- so I used churu to talk Rudy into walking on the scale on his own.
Toby and Wanda! Wanda has been adopted. Toby likes walking without her better, as she was too slow for him.
Sky! I love her little smirk.
Spencer. He lives in the main office and we got this cat tree donated and he claimed it as his own.
Boxer. He was the first intake exam I did at the new shelter. And he’s already been adopted!
Callie. She’s a deaf senior and she just loves being with people.
Aaand raccoon tax. We were trying to trap one of the outdoor cats we feed to get a vet check, and this guy wandered in instead. I took him across the road and he bolted off into the grass and trees. He didn’t show up in the trap again so I think he figured things out!
Thanks for looking, I’ll share more pictures again soon!

Ray ray is gorgeous. I’ll gladly take him!

Haha I mean that’s pretty close!

So many good snoots to boop. And lots of beans.

Oh man if you were in Scotland I'd be picking up #1 this afternoon. Good luck to you & the rescues
adrianontherocks
Haha that’s just a little too far! Thank you.

Be careful with yourself, I managed a shelter myself and I only lasted a few years. It's grueling and emotional, and you never forget the faces and names of the ones you can't save. Have someone close you can talk to
adrianontherocks
I’ve worked with animals my whole life, I was at my last shelter for six years. I wouldn’t say I’m ’used to it’ but I know how to deal. Thank you for your compassion ❤️
chewybrian
Front page stuff! I love seeing that at least some of them found homes already. Good work, OP!
adrianontherocks
Thank you! This shelter does far fewer adoptions than my last shelter, so I'm not used to having cats who have been here for YEARS, in a few cases, but I'm hoping I can make an impact and get more and more of them adopted!
fartharder
#1 she's beautiful

Thank you op, anyone who does this is a great person and appreciate what you do! For 50 years all we've had are rescues and they are the best.
adrianontherocks
Thank you for adopting!

Bob, Ray Ray, Ziggy, I'd like to introduce you to my Bailey.
Picked her up from the Michigan Humane Society. Without a doubt, one of the best decisions I've made.
adrianontherocks
So precious!
Invisibleman1921
Rescues really are just angels looking for a second chance.

Never heard of a kurunda(sp?) tower, but I and many others on here would donate to help you find some. Post a GoFundMe or something?
adrianontherocks
I’m not super comfortable broadcasting my location to the whole internet but I would be happy to DM you our website if you want to donate!

Yes please 😁

Where can you donate

I am a bit sad there is no sound for the videos...
adrianontherocks
Sorry, I had stripped the sound from the clips because I was making social media posts and trying to do the whole instagram/tiktok thing with music because it gets us more views, but none of the sound on these was that great anyway. I will get some video with sound in the future :)
Thesaya
Appreciated! ^^ Honestly, I live for listening to cats playing and dogs panting and ruffling about, even if there are no actual vocalisations.
baconandmorebacon
I already reported the video for cruelty against the viewers. ;)

Hahahahah
BlackCats4ever
It’s been lovely seeing some of the guests at your new shelter! Thank you <3
adrianontherocks
Of course! I need to try and post more animal pictures, the world needs them right now!

Omg Tamera reminds me of my own dog! If we were closer and had space I'd adopt her in a heartbeat. I love the little grey on her snoot.
adrianontherocks
She’s a sweetie. I’m sure yours is too ❤️
constantlycravingpuppykisses
I’d adopt Ray Ray in a heartbeat if I lived there!
Snooj
There's a Ray Ray waiting for you at a nearby shelter for sure.
constantlycravingpuppykisses
Pitties aren’t legal where I live, and shelters are few and far in between (luckily). But you are right though, and when the time is right, a rescue it is.
adrianontherocks
I don’t blame you! We have someone lined up, a friend of the director, but Ray Ray needs a dental first as he has a giant hole in his gums!
constantlycravingpuppykisses
Happy to hear someone is lined up for him ❤️ and best of luck with the gum issues

This is awesome.

Thank you!

I'd love to have Ziggy but I don't have the means to have a dog properly yet. I hope they all go to excellent homes. Thank you so much for caring for them all!
adrianontherocks
That’s very responsible. Why I don’t have a dog myself!
micuu
Give Ray Ray all the scritches! Do you hear me? ALL OF THEM!
adrianontherocks
I will! I will!

#10 For real, though! Congrats on the new job! 🎉 Will you still be working with the animals a lot as a manager or is it mainly paper work now?
adrianontherocks
It changes from day to day; it’s a very small shelter, we have like ten staff total, so if someone calls off I have to clean, feed, etc. whatever needs to be done but when we’re fully staffed I basically get to do whatever I want (that needs to be done). So sometimes that’s the schedule, sometimes it’s social media, sometimes it’s working with a scared cat. It’s less one on one time with cats than my last job but I still get plenty of animal interaction.
ParallelParkingInABurka
Sounds good and non-boring! 👌
adrianontherocks
Indeed! I’m loving it so far.
ParallelParkingInABurka
More monies, too?
adrianontherocks
A little! Would be more except it’s a commute so I have to spend on gas more, but it’s worth it. I didn’t take it for the money- I took it cause I really needed a change, things weren’t great at my old shelter, and I thought I could make a difference. So far I regret nothing!
