My partner found these old straws in a feeding assessment box at a hospital. The 'Ideal for Invalids' and the suggestion of adding a dash of brandy to the milkshake recipe leads me to believe these are pretty dated!

It's a term for disabled people, a bit old fashioned and not very PC these days.
