Eew, wash your eyelashes.

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Why is everything colored so WEIRDD

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Am I the only one that has trouble believing some of these?? Or is that the joke?? Example, the coffee looks like a rock sitting on sand

10 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Thank you. I am now creeped out by toilet paper.

10 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

The first one is a banana tree, not the fruit.

10 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Thought the toilet paper was pulled pork. I'm hungry.

10 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

They colorize these to help distinguish the different parts, don't they?

10 years ago | Likes 25 Dislikes 1

Yes. These are from an electron microscope, which cannot detect color.

10 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

I'm gonna need a scale on that first image

10 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

It's actually a banana shrub and not even magnified. https://ilovethaicooking.files.wordpress.com/2055/02/img_0377.jpg

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I need to get me some of that festive ass dust for my apartment.

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Now make a new pikmin game using this as source material.

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Love these. Is that an eyelash or an eyebrow?

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Pretty sure it's a lash. A brow would have many more rows.

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

The John Wayne TP. Rough, tough, won't take shit off anybody.

9 years ago | Likes 13 Dislikes 0

That is a fucking banana tree trunk, about five to ten inches across, cut apart. That is not in any way a banana. This is all bullshit.

10 years ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 0

the instant coffee granule doesn't look right but then again I'm no scientist

10 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

HOW DO YOU PUT A HUMAN EYELEASH WITH SKIN UNDER A MICROSCOPE!!! D:

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

You don't. These are fake

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

TIL chocolate is green.

10 years ago | Likes 47 Dislikes 0

And at a magnification of x10...crazy science!!!

10 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

These were made using a scanning electone microscope which generates black/white Pictures. The Features are artifitialy colored afterwards

10 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

Salt and pepper looks like raisin bran with marshmallows instead of raisins

10 years ago | Likes 63 Dislikes 1

I thought they looked more like S'Mores. The cereal.

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Or chocolate and marshmallows depending on what kind of person you are.

10 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

But the real question is, do marshmallows and raisins, under a microscope, look like salt and pepper?

10 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I see graham crackers and marshmallows

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Same

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I thought the toilet paper was tuna.

10 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

I DID IT! I made it all the way to the end without freaking out due to the fact that every single one of those is next to me right now.

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I don't want to know where you are if you're next to a banana, graphite, and toilet paper at the same time. Or I desperately need to know.

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I'm also next to spider skin and a blood clot

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

The most interesting man in the world doesn't have shit on you.

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

The dust is contaminated by a squidbilly

10 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

true

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

Anyone know what the yellow formations on the spider's skin are?

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Commenting in hopes you'll get an answer. No idea.

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I was wondering that too. Maybe little bits of its web? Just a guess. Could also be little stuck on bits of its last meal maybe?

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Vinyl disc? You mean a record? I've never heard that term before

10 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

You obviously have since you knew it was a record

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Thank you.

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

Read the last one like a Jamaican

10 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Wat da blood clot, boiiii!

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Every time I see this I wonder why the eyelash is green and the skin look dead

10 years ago | Likes 97 Dislikes 1

EM shows everything in black and white, so all of the colored objects were painstakingly segmented and psuedocolored by some poor lab tech.

10 years ago | Likes 16 Dislikes 0

Must be some poor SoB who thought he was lookin at grass or something.

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I'm pretty sure that the microscope used doesn't view color properly (or at all) so it is colored in after the fact.

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

So basically a moron colored it?

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

In that particular case, perhaps. Usually they're weird colors to stand out for identification, but I'm not sure how it was necessary there.

10 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

cuz it ded. a slice is taken of what you are viewing so it can fit on the viewing tray of a microscope and light can be projected through it

10 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

Electron microscopes show images in black and white. Color was placed there with photoshop.

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

The top most layer of skin is typically rather dead.

10 years ago | Likes 14 Dislikes 0

I'm pretty sure the colors have been drastically altered in all of these

10 years ago | Likes 55 Dislikes 1

But WHY WHY ARE THEY LYING TO US

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

IIRC the last time this was posted someone said the microscope takes black N white photos. The color is all artistic liberty or guesses.

10 years ago | Likes 19 Dislikes 0

They don't take photos at all. It's basically a super tiny stick you use to poke all over an object and the image is based on that.

10 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

What you really should be wondering is what those tiny domes at the base of the eyelash are. Answer: the butts of creatures. Seriously.

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Apologies for the nightmares

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

... and formication
