Not that they're anything like Factorio, but my favorite games of the last several years are Celeste, Outer Wilds, Slay the Princess, Hollow Knight, Tunic, and Receiver 2. All of those are currently at least 40% off, and for Celeste it's 75% off.

Choose Captain of Industry or Dyson Sphere Program instead. Also, Against the Storm is not the same genre, but is an excellent colony sim.

Factorio is an odd one; I played it, and did a few levels, and I can see that it's the kind of game that a decade or so ago I might have really got into. But I seem to no longer have whatever bit of my psyche that whole thing would have appealed to. I can see the trees of tech needed and the calculations to get good efficiency of resources to items moving through and all that. I just don't feel a need to actually execute it. I remember being someone it would have really appealed to.
Rathan5
Not at all intending judgement or criticism, but as someone with almost 4000 hours of playtime in Factorio it’s kinda wild to hear some folks think that it’s not worth the price. Literally nothing else I have ever encountered in my life has delivered that much for that price, game or otherwise.

Wow, can't imagine living a life where I would find $35 to be a bridge too far. I hope you are really young and living at home.
vanillarogue
it is absolutely NOT "too much for what it is", and 35 dollars stacked against any other form of entertainment is insanely low. If you have the budget, just work through whatever is holding you back and just buy it
IEatMyCum
$35 is well worth the price for Factorio.
TheNotGreatDane
I got Factorio for just under $30 - still a lot... but "never on sale" is a lie.
billyprime
My dude, I have personally put thousands of hours into Factorio, and it is well worth the price. In fact, send me a message with your Steam name and I'll gift you a copy tonight when I get home, because it's so good I think it's worth paying for TWICE. I see that you want to be a game dev, so all I ask in trade is that you complete a single Godot tutorial and post it here for all to see that you're making progress. Deal?
Username62611
That's awesome. You're awesome
ABrokenThing
Deal!
BallsToYouMyGoodSir
fuck um. do you know how many free games you can get on steam and epic??? dont need to spend a single $$$
ADMNtek
Have you heard of Satisfactory?
ABrokenThing
I have now

Factorio is awsome. I bought a key some 8 years ago directly from the makers website, long before they went on Steam. I bought the space expansion without having to install steam. And still it is fun to start over for milllionth time. Amazing game. /a/coal-b3O7uYs

Check out G2A.. havent have any problems buying and redeeming codes from there... just pick reseller there with good rating.

G2A is largely a scam. Many of the codes are bought with stolen creditcards/chargebacks, and many of the codes will, eventually, be deleted by the developer once they eventually catch on

Factorio? Cheapest paid game in my _entire library_ wrt $ per play hour, including the DLC - and that's up against titans like Witcher 3, Cyberpunk, Skyrim.
triffidhunter
The advantage of no sales ever is that it doesn't matter when you buy - you never have an excuse to wait, just choose and dive in.
WafflesOfMassDeliciousness
Factorio and Rimworld are the best time for money choices you can make for PC gaming. The replay ability, mod support, and depth are crazy.

I hear Tarkov is pain. Factorio is obsession. 7855 hours played.

keyblader1985
Also just for future reference, red is rad, blue is bad
ABrokenThing
I'll try to remember that. Can't let my memes be dreams
AloneWithMyThots
Sounds like factorio. If so, check out Shapez 2 or the og Shapez if you want a real cheap one, Dyson sphere program, or mindustry if you don't mind what's likely a shorter experience
littlefoxpounce
Satisfactory is the best automation game!!!
UprootedGrunt
Eh. That's the one I never really got into.
ABrokenThing
Correct!
dreikommavierzehn
I agree with the other comment. Factorio is good, but for most of what it does there are many other games that do it better. If anything, I consider it an excellent train simulator. because it's more fun to watch and manage trains there than in TTD. but other than that idk ... factories are more interesting in Satisfactory, wave defense games with automation others are better too (Take a look at Riftbreaker).
If they at least focused on some environmental mechanics, weather or something.
ArchaeoEejit
How much is satisfactory now?
dreikommavierzehn
didn't check the price in the current sale beforehand. but yeah, almost same price at 27€
aducksayswhat
I've found nothing quite gets the core 'building factories' part quite as good as factorio once you're a little into the tech tree to have drones. Copy and paste with drones/logistics separate from your character make big scale building a dream. That said, all the surrounding systems/challenges/goals are going to be different between games, and different strokes for different folks.
dreikommavierzehn
true. the game is unbearable for me before building drones. But I progress slow and lose interest soon after getting to that point.
I still give it a try every couple of months because in theory it would be an ideal game for me. I played since early EA and didn't expect that the game would eventually just be about endlessly feeding the rocket and space dlc with more of the same gameplay (well and a surprise spider tank).
A more dynamic environment and pollution management would have been great
Sigge1981
That sucks.
What game is it?
ABrokenThing
Factorio

I'll try and remember to send you a DM when I come home from my holiday, after the new year. Do you have Steam?
ABrokenThing
Yes I do!
Sigge1981
Perfect!
I'll try to see to it you get stuck in some spaghetti 😄
ABrokenThing
Oh man, thanks!
