The title can name itself.

13.5 hour day on Memorial day, 12 hr days in between. Holidays just aren't enjoyable anymore. I may have the gift of gab, but I can't even afford a $10 gift card for most places, in most situations. It's a SNAFU when you LIKE the company you work for, but you're unable to justify the hours. I never wish the neglect of your loved ones over the value of the almighty dollar. Wish it wasn't like this. I'm doing what I love, but the grass isn't even green enough to numb the pain; and I get some primo shyt.

inspiring

Sales is sucking the joy out of life for me. I genuinely struggle to smile.

Try getting a job in the beer sales world. Super competitive, and a lot of fun.

Sold cars for 4 years. Sort of miss it, but man it kills any chance of having a family life. Work from home now, much better.

Retail solidarity! I worked in an Apple Store for 3 years. It's immensely well paid for retail, but still retail.

Note: the hourly isn't far above average, but they let retail in on stock options. If you're going to do retail, aim for that.

Retail is a full time grind.

Same. I've given myself a five year limit on this shit. I'm just there to pay off my debts at this point.

You have options even if it doesn't feel like it. Start considering them.

Ten years? Shit... I was in it for the discount... Guitar Center. Otherwise, hated that shit.

I paid $975 for a $4k queen with split boxes. At least I'll sleep well with the decisions I've made.

I'm in the same boat currently @OP. Expect in in service and North America is my territory. 112 work hours last week. Was a struggle 1/2

To get out of bed at 2am this morning to leave for Seattle. Money is good but if you don't have time to spend it, what's it worth?

I know there is a typo and I don't care ;).

As an asocial person, who has worked in sales for the last 14 year, I totally agree. And I'm a store manager.

I'm the yuppie that fights his insecurities to the grave. I knew I would only be able to make my living because it's in me, but I'll always.

Be fighting that uphill battle.

Where you work?

I've been a mattress sales person for 3 years, store manager for 2. I'm no dummy, but I did lack motivation back in high school. Also done..

I didn't know mattress sales people actually exist.

Cars, auto parts, rental cars, cell phones, home security systems. All that's left is real estate.

I make 14% of profit, with a draw on min wage. It's hard out there. I need to deliver $20k per 2 weeks to make a living.

A lot of those are basically retail. If you can get into corporate sales, the money will come rolling in

I did well as a store manager, I might've made 80-90k if my district manager hadn't lost his title and taken my store. It's sad. I'm broken.

Keep at it, you'll get to where you want to be. Maybe one day your own store, if retail interests you
