The lady on the phone was asking for "Costanza". James Hong calls out for "Cartwright"

Some 30+ years earlier was "Bonanza". One of the supporting characters was Hop Sing (right), a cook for the Cartwright family. James Hong (left) was his cousin

Bonus points if you can find out his name on the show, I only see him listed as "cousin"

^2022^

also TIL "auditioned for the role of Lt. Hikaru Sulu on Star Trek (1966), which went to George Takei" https://www.imdb.com/name/nm0393222/trivia/

I never saw his character on Bonanza, so I never would have made that connection

Loved him in balls of fury

He also voiced an NPC in Diablo 3 as well

In the Bonanza episode "San Francisco" he is referred to as Hop Sing's #3 cousin. He shows up in a later episode referred to as #1 cousin. Doesn't get a proper name. I've been bingeing the "Bonanas for Bonanza" podcast lately.

"Hop Sing's" is also the name of the Chinese restaurant where Elaine gets her Communist boyfriend blacklisted in an episode of Seinfeld.

Season 6 episode 10 The Race.

The scene where George pretends to reconnect with Jerry in the diner is one of the best scenes in the entire series in my opinion.

We seem to be down to GIF animations now. Imgur will be dead unless they fix this soon.

Why did he call Constanza Cartwright?

3 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I think because the character doesn't speak English very well so he confused the two names. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6LsoNyy02LA

It was written in as a joke, and also an easter egg reference to Bonanza.

"Costanza" sounds like "Bonanza," the Cartwrights are the main family in Bonanza. The fact that it's James Hong is just a bonus.

Yaa, some might says, he is a "Cut" above the rest!

I'm starting to think that James Hong has been in EVERYTHING. Just have to look carefully to find him.

He's like Asian Gary Oldman. And according to the Oracle of Bacon, both of them were in Kung Fu Panda II.

I want to open the Wikipedia page that lists all of James Hong's credits, but my PC only has 32GB of RAM.

James Hong is in all Kung Fu Panda movies!

James Hong has nearly 500 acting credits from bit part to headliner and always seems to steal the show. This guy deserves way more than a Hollywood Star, but it’s a start

Don’t call yourself a fan if you haven’t endured East Meets Watts.

His star should say "Cartwright"

I believe he holds the world record for most Hollywood movie & TV roles, combined.

Hong: 555 credits. Eric Roberts: 1,162 credits.

Covetous Shen from Diablo 3(2012) is probably where I remember him most. Good character, writing, performance

I still say, "Ooh, Gavin!" in the voice he used in that character's introduction. Don't even know if that's accurate, don't care.

I enjoyed his side quest.
