The same thing happens when you do real people. So not so novel.

3 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Work about just as well in any movie

3 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Right, but it's not like it's just animation, it's basically every video, live or animated.

3 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Squash and stretch

3 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Elsa looks like Jane Lynch in that frame.

3 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I mean... the animators make these frame by frame, so they know exactly what they're doing.

3 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I see only good reasons to pause Disney movies

3 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

*Always *always pause a didney movie. It is mandatory

3 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I feel like using the Genie in these is cheating, because he's making weird faces naturally rather than any expectation of seriousness.

3 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Tweens!!!!

3 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

For those unlikely to know the difference, "tween" here is an animation term, short for "in-between" (1/2)

3 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

i.e. the frames describing motion "in-between" the key frames the animators have drawn/constructed. Modern animation does this automatically

3 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

just a case of the pause face

3 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Wheres the one of Jessica Rabbit... you know the one, right?

3 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

no but i am curious now

3 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Used to watch Beauty and the Beast on VHS in the early 90's, slow motion Gaston song was hilarious to me.

NNNNNOOOOOOOOOOOOOO OOOOOOOONNNNNNEEEEEEEEEEEEEE’SSSSSSSSSSSSS……….

3 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

I especially laughed at the expectorating

3 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

The Aladdin one looks like Jasmine is finding a place to spit after blowing Al....a kiss godnight.

3 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Some animator doing smear frames and having a giggle

3 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Remember, especially with the older more animated movies, illustrators had to draw every frame of that, even the silly moves/faces...

3 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

None of these are by accident.

all of these frames are removed on disney plus

3 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 7

Okay, now you’re just trolling.

3 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Seriously? Why? And why would they bother?

3 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Gotta love smear frames

3 years ago | Likes 443 Dislikes 0

obviously my internet connection got a fable for them too. almost every face talking looks like a grimace in freezeframe.

3 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Such a great movie!

3 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Dang, that’s a good thread

3 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

The best part is that in those older movies, someone had to draw those frames.

3 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

https://www.youtube.com/user/jbaum181/videos Check the blocking and animation passes in this channel. Shows the whole process.

3 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Even now they still have to adjust the model for those smear frames. The computer will spline together stuff but most of cg animating is...

3 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

stop motion and the computer fills in the few frames in between. Try using sfm and making a character raise their hand with two key frames.

3 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

All the joints move and shift before snapping to key frame 2. Got to do a bunch of inbetween frames before the comp stops going its own way.

3 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I wish i could figure out sfm. Tho I have more expirence with blender and the like

3 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I made a little WIP animation once but never stayed with it. Any animation on a computer is more like having a full tool box than an...

3 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

automatic system for sure.

3 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

for me it was just how the UI was laid out. I couldnt figure out how to move the models or camera

Didney lan !

3 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 2

Didney pwuss!

3 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

...are you kidding? The animators do this on purpose.

3 years ago | Likes 302 Dislikes 2

It's the best fuckin' part of the day.

3 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

In fact, the lack of frames like these will make the action shots feel jarring, wrong somehow

3 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

They are called smear frames. They are necessary for making animation feel smooth when watching it at normal speed.

3 years ago | Likes 84 Dislikes 0

3 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Just like the topless woman in rescuers for those 2 frames. =o

3 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Wow, thats disgusting, do you have a picture of this?

3 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

funfact these frames are removed on disney plus

3 years ago | Likes 35 Dislikes 27

Fun fact: that's not even remotely true...

3 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

v

3 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

They might make the system not to allow to pause at the smear frames, but they can't remove them, otherwise the animation would feel wrong.

3 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Man, I love animation takes on imgur. Just the absolute dumbest shit somehow gets upvotes. Gonna share this with all my buddies, thanks.

3 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

yw

3 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 2

Any examples? Removing smear frames would sabotage the animation so I can't see why they would.

3 years ago | Likes 13 Dislikes 0

well as far as i can tell the only time ive actually seen the frames is from self ripped bluerays and never from screenripped content

3 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 5

The frames are meant to blend in with the movement in the animation, so they're not meant to be noticeable. Here's a smear frame from a...

3 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

well ive tried stepping frame by frame in vlc and they fail to show up sometimes

3 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 4

... 2020 Disney animation I screencapped from Youtube:

3 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I'm confused. What's done on purpose and what's been removed?

3 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 1

these frames have been removed on disney plus

3 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 43

That's not true. You just can't pause on them. If you were to film the screen then play it back they're there

3 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I highly doubt that. Source, please?

3 years ago | Likes 15 Dislikes 0

why?

3 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 1

compression + they arent needed on digital media

3 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 38

Not sure if this is the reason, but old TV's refresh was progressive (line by line refresh) vs modern is all at once. Maybe that's why?

3 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 8

That's just plain wrong. Old TVs were interlaced, not progressive, and that has nothing to do with why these frames exist

3 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 0

Okay, I said I wasn't sure. Do you know why?

3 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

They're called "smear frames" which are used in animation to accentuate movement or simulate motion blur. No reason to remove them.

3 years ago | Likes 33 Dislikes 0

To save time on production I assume?

3 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Wouldn't it *hinder* to remove them? Some of the best anime are fucking full of that shit, like OPM.

3 years ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 0

Yeah, OP's full of shit about them being removed. No idea where they got that from.

3 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 0

I think it's more that the pause rounds to the next "clean" frame. They are still shown but not paused on.

3 years ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 0

that's the oposite of fun....

3 years ago | Likes 88 Dislikes 0

As is tradition for "fun facts".

3 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Also alot of the old movies are chopped up and had alot of "senstive content" removed

3 years ago | Likes 25 Dislikes 4

So Bambi's mom survived?

3 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Nothing's been removed afaik, at least not where I live. They just have a disclaimer at the start.

3 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

I remember them adding a text at the beginning of i.e. Aladdin, explaining the sensitive content and how it's from another era or whatever?

3 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

...how long is the current version of "Song of the South", 12 minutes?

3 years ago | Likes 15 Dislikes 0

0 minutes because it will never be uploaded to disney plus

3 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 1

Let me guess tho, they still have all of the Native scenes in Peter Pan? Or did they actually remove those too? I'd be surprised if they did

3 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

as far as i can tell peter pan was removed from children access but still accessable on adult access
