Need to increase the budget to cover those costs, eh?

But no money for universal healthcare or affordable housing.
Gotta think about their priorities, their agendas, not you.

It could be worse. Elon Musk could be getting a $400 million contract to "build" Armored cyber trucks for the US State Department, which thanks to his cutting of the oversight budget, no one will ever be able to check up on to see if he follows through with.

This again? What they never told us about the "$10,000 toilet seats" is that they were highly specialized and they only needed a very, very small number.

The cost of the $10,000 toilet seat, was actually reduced by using 3D printing. Also "After Lockheed Martin stopped production, "small business had to backward engineer it. And the prices rose over time," she said." https://www.military.com/defensetech/2018/07/11/air-force-no-longer-spending-10000-toilet-seats-officials-say.html

As somebody that works in aviation manufacturing, military parts do have a higher standard usually of acceptance criteria we have to follow versus commercial. That higher acceptance criteria will mean we have more noncompliant manufactured parts that need either be reworked or scraped outright. Which all increases the cost that's quoted for those parts.

All that said, I'm sure there's plenty of over-cost parts.

Also, my experience is that while the individual part may actually cost $1 more than a non DOD required part, the crazy comes from having a run of 10 with a set up cost of $10,000 rather than a run of 100,000 for the 10K set up cost.

Exactly. Parts for shuttles aren't as mass produced as commercial airliner parts. The tooling and equipment to create those 10 run part for the shuttle is still equal cost of tooling and equipment for those 100000 run part for an airliner.

Brah, link the story. Show me the reporting. Show me the civilian product. I was enlisted USAF aircraft maintenance, I know all this, but you gotta cite your sources.

What's the NSN for this part? Is the part purchased individually or as part of a contract bundle? Where's the purchase order? Where is the purchasing contract and who approved it? What district is the manufacturer in?

These fucking "gotcha" moments are ridiculous.

I meant I know from experience they buy .10 cent screws for like $30 a piece, I wasn't referring to having specific information on this instance.
